Position summary

T-Mobile is America's supercharged Un-carrier, delivering an advanced 4G LTE and transformative nationwide 5G network that will offer reliable connectivity for all. Senior managers, Software Development located in Snoqualmie, WA will establish and evolve closed-loop analytics and automation platforms, architectures, and solutions.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support Machine Learning (ML) projects from strategy through implementation and ongoing improvements in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Use knowledge of software industry best practices to translate real world problems into data science problems, solve the problems using current data science/ML engineering methodologies, and develop software solutions for large scale hybrid cloud environment with integration to multiple platforms/systems.

  • Work with Machine Learning solutions using various supervised/unsupervised.

  • Collaborate with users and developers on the efficient use of visualization tools for self-service.

  • Lead analytics/automation proof of concepts.

  • Monitor and measure work tasks to ensure deliverables are provided on time, high quality and within budget.

  • Guide direct reports and team members, delivering feedback and delivering appropriate direction.

  • Hold development discussions with direct reports and provide challenging assignments to promote development with individual career goals in mind.

  • Translate broader business initiatives into clear team objectives and concrete individual goals, aligning appropriately with other groups for efficient, coordinated action.

  • Measure deliverables to determine success of goals, gain input from stakeholders, and adapting action plan as necessary.

  • Plan for and ensure that management and development staff have tools/skills required to perform job functions (workstations, software, servers, disk space, training, etc.).

  • Continue the advancement of Splunk Centre of Excellence across the Enterprise for log aggregation, Security, and ML.

  • Establish and implement knowledge-based processes and methodologies that utilize software industry standards including CMMI, ISO, ITIL, and Six Sigma.

  • Less than 10% travel required. Telecommuting is permitted, but applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance.

Skill requirements:

  • (1) Working through the full lifecycle Machine Learning (ML) engineering processes, including understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to lead and deliver ML/AI initiatives;

  • (2) Developing large scale business systems applications using on-prem infrastructure, cloud platform infrastructure services, tools including Azure ML/AWS Sage maker, Supervised, Unsupervised (SciKit, Random Forest) using Python & R Server, Deep Reinforcement (Keras-Theano) vscode, Jupiter notebooks, RStudio, Power BI, Tableau, reporting services, agile development, and DevOps deployment methodology;

  • (3) Building and supporting distributed systems at scale including Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and Databases including Graph and SQL;

  • (4) Managing a team of engineers in a team lead, supervisor or manager capacity;

  • (5) Working on Azure ML cloud-based services and on-prem supporting infrastructure to negotiate with vendors for new products and services; and

  • (6) Using knowledge of modern programming languages including Python, C#, Java, SQL, HTML, and Java Script to understand context, tradeoffs, risks, and technical challenges, make architecture and budget decisions, and manage deliverable timelines.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related, and 5 years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related, and 7 years of relevant work experience.

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience.
