National Grid IT team is currently seeking an innovative and experienced, Senior Manager who will be responsible for managing the development of tools that will serve as the standard platform for creation, tracking, execution and deployment of various diverse programs driven using Agile and Waterfall methodologies. The Senior Manager will also pay the role of process owner, partnering closely with the Technical Managers, Product Owners, and Scrum Team Leads to achieve success against a defined set of desired business outcomes. This role will also be challenged with the transition of programs from waterfall methodology to Agile development practices as and where applicable.
The tools should cater to the needs of a diverse set of stakeholders such as business analysts, developers, quality analysts, Production IT teams, support etc. and ensure consistency of processes across multiple programs across diverse teams. In this role we are seeking the following preferred qualifications: Highly developed negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills; good analytical and problem solving skills; proven experience in automating configuration management by delivering using Infrastructure as a code and Configuration as a code; experience with Scalable Agile Scrum development; complete understanding of both the underlying infrastructure of the system and the individual application requirements to facilitate providing technical input into the development of the system as appropriate; experience in the management of complex product development and delivery and CSM / PMP certification is a plus.
Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments; Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment
Create rich customer facing web / Mobile applications with focus on UX, performance and maintainability.
Management of departmental resources, staffing, mentoring, and enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering organization
Work closely with your teams to architect and develop the best technical design and approach
Report on status of development, quality, operations, and system performance to leadership and peers
Serves as a guiding force on the governing committee responsible for resolving conflict, providing best practice recommendations, and removing impediments.
Provides coaching and mentoring to Agile standards (story writing, grooming, estimating, etc.)
Responsible for the over-all systems development life cycle
12+ years of experience building and managing development teams that design and deliver rich Web applications on prem, cloud and mobile platforms
5 + years of experience as manager with ability to lead teams of 8+ people in design, development, personal improvement and growth and being responsible for their performance approasals
6+ years of application development on the Web and Mobile frameworks with very thorough knowledge of Progressive Web apps, SPA, Angular, Typescript and ASP.Net
Experience leading multidisciplinary (Software Development/Agile/ QA/PM) organizations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
Experience managing teams in a DevOps culture
Experience with data visualization and analytic tools is a plus
Experience of managing products, budgets and justifying resource needs to senior leaders and finance
Experience in developing multi-year product and technical strategies
Experience influencing leadership decisions through presentation of technical information, both verbally and in writing
Experience with project delivery for complex, cross-functional, cross-organizational projects
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
