We are seeking an experienced Senior level Project Manager to support and be dedicated to a Strategic Program at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics. The Sr Project Manager will report directly to the VP of Strategic Projects within the Global Operations Organization, and will assist the planning, execution, and management of critical projects within this complex large scale capital program. The work will involve the entire life cycle of a significant capital-investment project. The project will include the completion of conceptual designs, funding, project planning, final engineering designs, and the management of external partners dealing with the design and eventual construction. The project life cycle will continue across all relevant phases including procurement of any required equipment and the eventual commissioning and validation of the facility and installed equipment. Project may also include product transfers and the necessary and eventual successful site operation start-up.

The preferred location for this role is ON-SITE in Chaska Minnesota, and the role requires flexibility and an approximate 30-40% domestic travel. The travel needs may fluctuate from time to time, depending on the various phases of the project and the business needs.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Project manage all partners internal and external Architectural & Engineering (A&E) firm across design, surveying, real-estate and local/county/state interactions, procurement of equipment, and any associated construction.

  • Collaborate, influence, and hold accountable cross-functional project teams to ensure program is achieving key project deliverables, according to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.

  • Develop master project schedules, and cost estimates for construction of any new builds.

  • Ensure proper financial assessment and develop accurate capital requests as needed and oversee project budget, project control, and cost estimates throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Ensure all activities are performed compliantly following relevant company policies and procedures, regulatory authorities, EH&S and with GMP, ISO and other required standards. Evaluate, understand, and implement effective risk management and mitigation by identifying assessing, tracking and communication risks to stakeholders.

  • Support and drive the achievement of Project and Portfolio KPI's through the adoption of Danaher Business Systems (DBS) (Lean tools, Visual Project Management, Daily Management etc.) and Global Ops PMO Standard Work/Methodology.

  • Ensure all phases of the project are well defined and developed through completion including a safe and efficient handover from the contractor to operation, review and approval of all as built drawing packs, proper equipment installation, qualification, process verification, and final start-up and product transfer.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor's degree required with a preference in Engineering or Science related field with preference for 14+ years of related experience in an operations environment (manufacturing, engineering, operations PMO, or logistics and distribution). Or Master's degree with preference for 12+ years' experience.

  • Project management trained/qualified (e.g. PMP certification or equivalent). Proven track record leading projects that include design, build, and commissioning facilities, in a manufacturing and life science industry or regulated environment.

  • Demonstrated experience & success in leading medium to large projects with proven track record of leading complex technology/product transfers, facility commissioning/start-up and strong financial acumen to manage budget and financial elements.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships at all organizational levels.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • A min of 2+ years of practical experience as a Construction Manager in a related industry.

  • Lean/Six Sigma Experience, certified Kaizen leaders in DBS (Lean) and demonstrated capability in Problem Solving.

  • Proficiency in Power BI/Smartsheet, Miro, Excel, and PM software.
