The Senior Manager, Technical Accounting and Reporting will have primary responsibility for technical accounting matters, including the accounting for mergers and acquisitions, SEC, and compliance related reporting. The Senior Manager, Technical Accounting and Reporting will be responsible for ensuring that Pattern's accounting procedures conform to relevant US GAAP, IFRS accounting standards as well as SEC reporting standards. The incumbent will work extensively with Pattern's corporate and operational accounting groups, internal legal counsel and Pattern's SEC counsel.
This position's hours are nominally 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Incumbent must be willing to work reasonable overtime hours to meet project deadlines when required and travel as required.
Key internal relationships will include the Executive Management Team, Operations, Tax and Legal, and other members of the corporate and operational accounting teams. Externally, key relationships will include the SEC, OSC, Pattern's audit and legal firms, including outside SEC and OSC counsel, and Pattern's principal private equity investor.

Manage public financial reporting requirements of registrant in US (SEC) reports such as 10-Qs and 10-Ks, and 8-K's including XBRL where applicable;
Manage the development, implementation, and management of the financial reporting software platform (Workiva/Wdesk) including process validations and improvements;
Manage the development of automated GL level reporting for effective integration within the financial reporting software platform;
Manage the internal development of department direct reports;
Manage the reporting requirements standalone audits for subsidiaries of registrant;
Oversee the development, implementation, and management of the financial reporting SOX control environment;
Research and document technical accounting issues related to material transactions to support audits and financial reporting expected to be mainly US GAAP, but may include IFRS.
Manage transaction development teams and finance group with accounting diligence for acquisitions and advise on accounting structuring considerations on a real time basis.
Work alongside the Director of Technical Accounting and other accounting groups in developing financial statements for audit and investor needs.
Continue to maintain and develop Company accounting policies.
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required. CPA certification or Canadian Chartered Accountant certification required.
Required Work Experience
The candidate must have recent SEC reporting experience in industry. Experience in the power generation industry is highly desirable. Public accounting experience with a major firm is highly desirable.
Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems; ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports are essential.
The candidate should have a minimum of 7-10 years of experience in progressively senior-level finance and accounting positions, including or focused on public company reporting.
Recent SOX reporting and management experience.
Knowledge of IFRS a plus.
Candidates should have public accounting experience, preferably with a Big-4 firm technical accounting advisory group, plus recent public company experience. A deep understanding of US GAAP accounting standards is required, with a strong GAAP technical accounting skill-set with broad knowledge and experience of external reporting requirements (private company with some SEC-level experience).
Experience in the power generation or energy industry and knowledge of applicable industry accounting standards and interpretations is highly desirable.
Substantial experience preparing audit-quality technical accounting memos, analyses and documentation.
Experience advising transaction teams on accounting considerations on a real-time, value added basis.
Interests in an applied accounting environment with substantial interaction with non-accounting commercial professionals and general ledger accountants.
Experience working in a fast pace dynamic environment.
SOX 302 and 404 reporting.
US GAAP required, IFRS desirable.
