Job Description:

Responsibilities include the functional management of the Systems Engineering Integration and Test Department for Harris' Environmental Solutions Business Unit in Melbourne, FL. This position is focused on leading an experienced team of Engineers in support of Programs and Pursuits.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading an organization of approximately 110 Engineering employees. This includes supervision, planning, development, and execution of all Environmental Solutions tasking on projects, pursuits, and programs. The Engineering Manager will also provide coaching and leadership development for the direct staff of Group Leaders as well as for the entire department.

  • Advance technologies as appropriate to ensure tools, processes, and staff are competitive and applicable to the business.

  • Meet functional requirements of staffing, training, talent development, engagement, retention, and overall management of Engineering department / function.

  • Provide staffing for programs, pursuits, and internal efforts (IR&D, Special Projects, etc.) within the Business Unit and for all Engineering needs.

  • Meet functional organization and business AOP budgets.

  • Support pursuits and proposals in the business, including review/approval of technical proposals and Basis of Estimates (BOEs) as needed.

  • Lead/Support Technical Tiger Teams for Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) assessment on programs where applicable.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field with a minimum of 12 years' experience with Engineering tools and technologies.
  • 10 years systems engineering experience and ability to champion key initiatives such as Model Based Systems Engineering.
  • 5 years experience in Engineering leadership capacity (i.e. Group Lead, IPT Lead, PE, CAM).

  • Advanced degree

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver and sustain measurable results

  • Ability to coach, mentor and build relationships with external organizations

  • Self-starter; problem solver; customer focus

The business designs, implements, and operates large, complex networks supporting air traffic management and mission critical communications; develops voice communications systems; and develops air traffic movement and information systems. Primary responsibilities of the Senior Engineering Manager, Network Deployment, include the functional management of the Network Deployment Department for Harris' Mission Networks Business Unit in Melbourne, FL; and the leadership of network deployment engineers in support of programs and pursuits/proposals. The Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for leading an organization of approximately 70 network deployment engineers. This includes supervision, planning, development, and execution of all tasking on projects, pursuits, and programs. The Senior Engineering Manager will also provide coaching and leadership development for the direct staff of Group Leaders as well as for the entire department. Other responsibilities include: * Provides leadership, management, direction, and technical oversight for the network deployment department * Recruits and manages staff for a department of network deployment engineers developing and deploying a TDM network, to meet all program staffing requirements, analysis of future needs, tactical and strategic planning, talent succession development, and personnel transition plans.
