Beyond a strong engineering, data storage/modeling, visualization, and front-end background, a successful candidate will have experience successfully leading teams, developing people, and building a scalable infrastructure. We are looking for someone that is a self-starter, someone that approaches complex business questions with data and curiosity, and a person that dives below the surface to identify the root cause and "so what" rather than just superficial trends.

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and 7+ years industry experience

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.

  • 3+ years experience leading Software Development teams or equivalent experience

  • Working knowledge of software development methodologies like Agile, Scrum, Kanban, or equivalent

  • Advanced/Master's degree in or Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related discipline

  • Experience leading large-scale engineering projects, including using AWS technologies.

  • Meets/exceeds Amazon's leadership principles requirements for this role

  • Meets/exceeds Amazon's functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

The team is focused on software development for various aspects of the EC2 core platform engineering including server provisioning, control plane capacity management, server health monitoring and remediation as well as time sync service. The EC2 Fleet Health team owns the services that monitor millions of EC2 servers worldwide and automatically initiate remediation actions to ensure optimal performance of the EC2 customer workloads. You will partner with senior leaders across AWS to define the vision for the space. You will be responsible for driving strategy and engaging with partners to deliver large software projects end-to-end. You will be a key player in strategic planning, technical design and project execution. This leader's responsibilities will include all aspects of the core service's experience: designing and building the software, managing its operations, and delivering on customer performance expectations. A successful candidate must have experience dealing with ambiguity, be able to grow a highly qualified team of distributed systems experts and be able to coordinate closely with other AWS teams.
