Our Opportunity:

Restaurant Brands International is looking for a Sr. Manager on the Restaurant Operation Engineering team to join our Global Operations Team based in Miami, Florida. This team member would report to the RBI Lead of Restaurant Engineering and Design. At RBI, we know one of the biggest investments we have is in our restaurants. That's why we are looking for a dynamic team member with industrial engineering and process design experience to support our efforts for all three brands (Burger King, Popeyes, and Tim Hortons).

This new position offers the opportunity to become the technical expert on RBI's Restaurant Operation Engineering team. A team responsible for designing physical stores and work flows to be more productive while enabling innovation; generating cost savings in store construction, design, and labor management globally based on a wide range of inputs such as product mix and service modes. As such this team must utilize their creativity, simulation tools, and data analytics to define, communicate and drive changes to restaurant kitchen layouts, equipment innovation (via mechanization and automation) and develop outside the box operational processes.

The new designs and work flows will drive efficiency, throughput, guest and crew experience resulting in best in class operating restaurants. The ideal candidate is hands on, collaborative and experienced in FlexSim simulation software. They are the key team member responsible for developing and running layout comparisons for design and validation. This team member will complete time/motion studies in varies areas of the restaurant. Additionally, this candidate must create equipment / work station capacity models for various areas of the kitchen via Excel. Experience with AutoCad is preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Improvement of restaurant kitchen layouts and production processes in all brands

  • Manage the creation and simulation validation of all RBI kitchen designs via the FlexSim simulation software

  • Management of simulation tools and data input to develop recommended kitchen layouts that are adaptable to current and future menu architecture and consumer trends (domestic and international)

  • Utilize work measurements and time/motion studies to determine and recommend optimal productivity requirements & staffing levels

  • Develop understanding of food preparation equipment and preparation processes in all three brands

  • Create layouts that incorporate new and potential industry trends such as new service modes (ex: home delivery) and new product offers.

  • Improvement of operations in existing restaurants through cost effective changes aimed at driving order accuracy, throughput, and labor efficiency

  • Leading expert in equipment innovation conditions

  • Uses LEAN principals to develop creative ideas to reduce waste and costs in the food preparation processes and increase throughput

  • Support international growth across all brands.

  • Develop restaurant kitchen layouts specific to new country's service mode breakdown and product makeup. Drive Equipment Innovation

  • Identify areas of opportunity for equipment innovation working collaboratively with the RBI Engineering Team, vendors and franchisees.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in FlexSim modeling, Excel and AutoCad

  • BS in Industrial Engineering or comparable field

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing to all levels of management

  • Collaborative with diverse groups and disciplines, both in-person and thru usage of other means (Skype, WebEx, email communications, etc.)

  • Ability to plan and manage schedules for multiple tasks

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, rapidly-changing environment

  • Experience in process design, improvement, and validation via data collection and simulation

  • 5+ years' experience in project management experience participating and leading multi-functional teams

  • 3+ years' experience with FlexSim design and responsibilities

  • 5+ years QSR or Fast Casual Restaurant Experience

  • Manufacturing or healthcare FlexSim simulation experience may be comparable.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities: This role is responsible for the all aspects of our transport networks including network planning, budget, engineering design, implementation, migration and reliability management. It will lead a team of Senior and Principal level IP/MPLS network and optical engineers who work to ensure that our network related projects are delivered on time and within budget and meet or exceed the requirements of our internal customers. In addition, the role helps to ensure that critical networks are running optimally with an emphasis on continuous improvement. * Direct management of a team of network optical and transport engineers, with responsibility for implementation oversight of large scale IP/MPLS and fiber optical transport projects. * Ability to understand utility-scale projects and leverage cutting edge technologies such as MPLS, DWDM, 5G, Private-LTE and SmartCity IoT to implement, scale, support and monetize technology investments. * Work directly with FPL IT business unit network engineers and application developers to understand virtual network requirements and complete low level IP/MPLS designs to meet business requirements in terms of size, scale, security and performance. * Responsible for direct oversight of the implementation of the IP/MPLS design with a combination of internal network engineers and vendor resources. * Responsible for vendor relationship management and technical escalations with OEM and colocation providers. * Work directly with FPL Infrastructure Operations Center to build the operational monitoring required to ensure that IP/MPLS and optical network components are properly documented, monitored and meet rigourous availability standards required. * Ensure that all network changes are reviewed and approved prior to moving into production and that as-built design documentation for all new projects and network engineering efforts are accurate and up to date as our network evolves to meet our business needs. * Understand advances and changes in the technology industry, which may increase availability, reliability, business agility or reduce our operating costs. * Maintain the security of network infrastructure and compliance with all applicable industry and security standards (NERC CIP, PCI, SOX etc.) * Direct responsibility for capital and O&M budget management and monthly forecasting.
