MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / COMPETENCIES

The Sr. Manager of Professional Education will lead our initiatives in refractive surgery education, focused on the STAAR Surgical Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL). This individual will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive educational programs targeted at healthcare professionals in the Americas, including ophthalmologists, optometrists, technicians, and other relevant stakeholders. The Sr. Manager of Professional Education will play a pivotal role in enhancing product understanding, procedural knowledge, and best practices associated with STAAR Surgical products. This individual will be responsible for running successful end-to-end education programming and developing measurement tools to assess impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Development:

o Collaborate with internal subject matter experts and key opinion leaders to design, develop, and update educational curricula tailored to the needs of healthcare professionals.

o Ensure alignment of educational content with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices in ophthalmology.

o Conduct needs assessments and gap analyses to identify educational priorities and areas for curriculum enhancement.

  • Program Implementation:

o Oversee the implementation of educational programs, including workshops, training sessions, webinars, and symposia, both in-person and virtually.

o Provide leadership in alignment with key stakeholders including HCPs, marketing, and sales organization.

  • Stakeholder Engagement:

o Serve as the primary contact for Professional Education in the Americas, communicating strategic plan and ongoing activities regularly with key internal stakeholders including sales, marketing, clinical and regulatory partners.

o Secures appropriate input and alignment from key internal stakeholders prior to launch of all programming in the Americas.

o Cultivate relationships with key opinion leaders, professional societies, and academic institutions to foster partnerships and enhance program credibility.

o Engage with healthcare professionals to understand their educational needs and gather feedback for continuous program improvement.

  • Team Leadership:

o Develop annual operating plan for the Americas Professional Education team and secure alignment with key stakeholders.

o Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of educational and event specialists, ensuring high-quality program delivery and professional development opportunities.

o Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages creativity and excellence.

  • Evaluation and Metrics:

o Develop and implement mechanisms for evaluating the effectiveness and impact of educational programs, utilizing metrics such as participant feedback, knowledge assessments, and performance outcomes.

o Use data-driven insights to inform program optimization and strategic decision-making.

  • Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:

o Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including but not limited to accreditation standards, industry codes of conduct.

o Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and incorporate them into educational initiatives as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Certification in meeting planning or event management (CMP, CMM) is a plus.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience (5-10 years) in professional education within a medical device or pharmaceutical organization, more than 2 years leading a full-service professional education team.

  • Proven track record of curriculum development, program management, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.

  • Leadership experience, including team management and cross-functional collaboration.

SKILLS

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Exceptional skills in required support of presentations, Powerpoint, video playback, etc.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical meetings and events preferred.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive results and adapt to evolving market dynamics.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 30%).

  • Strong understanding of medical devices, surgical procedures, and clinical applications.

  • Ophthalmology experience preferred.

Pay range: $125 - $175k - Final compensation/salary will be depend on experience.
