This position is with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Companythe second-largest U.S. tobacco company. The company's brands include Newport, Camel and Pall Mall.

This position is responsible for the end-to-end Indirect Procurement process within the assigned area of responsibility. This may include leading a team of buyers to complete the sourcing and management of a vast array of categories and commodities for one or more RAI operating companies.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manages team of Indirect Procurement personnel to facilitate the acquisition of materials and services in support of the sourcing requirements from various functional areas across the Operating Companies.

  • Evaluates staff requirements and plans/prepares for needs related to personnel development, training, attrition, succession planning, etc.

  • Provides leadership and direction to Indirect Procurement personnel responsible for the acquisition of materials and services in support of the sourcing requirements from various functional areas within the Operating Companies.

  • Conducts business process analysis and documentation, internal and external benchmarking efforts, the development and implementation of decision support processes and systems, and the evaluation of tools and applications to enhance the overall effectiveness of the Procurement organization.

  • Develops and implements metrics designed to measure organizational and supply base performance, as well as the development of effective tracking and reporting against these metrics.

  • Acts as a liaison with client departments to develop strategies which support their sourcing requirements while maintaining the overall best interests of the Company.

  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures that are applicable to Procurement operations.

  • Responsible for the leadership, coaching and development of personnel with focus on obtaining individual, departmental, and Company performance goals.

  • Maintain appropriate supply base and conducts periodic performance reviews with major suppliers

  • Support and contribute to Enterprise Spend Management (ESM) programs and initiatives in the identification of savings opportunities, effective project management, and the tracking of realized savings.

  • Develops advanced sourcing strategies and leads the implementation of these strategies in a broad commodity group or groups. Leads Indirect Procurement personnel and client area to deploy sourcing strategies.

  • Manages outsourced relationships associated with Procurement identified critical suppliers.

  • Manages and participates in leading cross-functional projects and initiatives designed to deliver step changes in the overall effectiveness and efficiencies of the procurement organization.

  • Ensure that personnel are adequately trained, developed, motivated, and held accountable for their performance; develop strategies to manage the knowledge base and ensure that the workforce is prepared for future challenges and requirements.

  • Ensure that appropriate supplier segmentation strategies are applied to mitigate risk and support processes for FDA Relevant Assessments.

Job Requirements:

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent and 12+ years of relevant work experience

OR

Associate Degree in Business or related field and 9+ years relevant work experience

OR

Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or related field and 7+ years of relevant work experience

OR

Post Graduate Degree in Engineering, Business or related field and 5+ years of relevant work experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 12 years relevant experience or equivalent education and experience

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a value-added team member

  • Experience in project management

  • Knowledge of Operating Companies processes and strategies

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to set strategy and direction

  • Demonstrated ability to build effective teams and foster collaboration across teams

  • Ability to make sound and timely decisions in a fast paced environment

  • Excellent managerial skills with the ability to resolve conflict, provide coaching, direction, feedback, and develop a vision

  • Knowledge of overall business and corporate strategy

  • Thorough understanding of regulatory rules

  • Broad understanding of Indirect Procurement categories and/or commodities

  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Strong functional knowledge of computers and information systems

  • Self-motivated, energetic, flexible, and adaptable to change

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior experience managing and developing a team

  • CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) preferred

  • Management experience within a regulated environment

JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the Sr. Manager of Indirect Commodity Sourcing directs the day-to-day activity, negotiations, and strategic direction of the US indirect commodity team. Responsible for the sourcing of the indirect supply chain to achieve results. JOB DUTIES * Lead the development of a three-year strategy and planning process (long-range roadmaps, capacity analysis, etc.) for indirect commodities across the US sites * Negotiate indirect contracts and mentor staff in contract establishment capability * Report commodity and key supplier performance issues on a monthly basis * Report in indirect spend and savings on a monthly basis * Identify opportunities for indirect supply chain optimization and implement as appropriate * Develop commodity strategy for indirect goods and services in coordination with Director, Supply Chain * Identifies current business requirements and service strategy * Ensures continuity of supply for indirect products and services and recommends mitigation strategies * Participates on key projects to achieve strategic initiatives relating to sourcing and procurement * Identify new suppliers and/or products/services * Approval of purchase orders as needed * Establish and review Supplier agreements/contracts for new business to ensure competitive quoting was used (where necessary); specific requirements of a contract are present; appropriate review and signing authority is present; adequate insurance provisions are contained in the contract. * Liaise with other functional / departmental managers so as to understand all necessary requirements * Maintain awareness and knowledge of trends, shifts in commodity markets and establish risk mitigation programs. * Manage business process improvement initiatives * Development of and conformance to key metrics that are in line with business objectives. * Develop strong supplier relationships, which ensures that the company's suppliers are capable of meeting its needs. * Reporting to upper management as needed. * Educate, mentor and provide guidance to staff * Implements strategies for assigned commodities – Provides feedback and continuous improvement of the department * Interacts with suppliers, internal customers, upper management, and staff * Coordinate with Collins Aerospace and UTC indirect commodity managers for synergy projects as well as to leverage existing contracts and/or deals. * May require occasional travel (domestic and/or international) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field; minimum 6 years of related experience in supply chain management; or equivalent combination of education and experience * Experience in managing and leading a team * Advanced negotiation skills * Polished, professional presence with exemplary communication skills * Excellent presentation skills.
