How will you make an impact?

The Senior Manager of Operations is responsible for leading and managing all operational functions involved in the production and distribution of complex scientific consumables in support of business unit and division strategic and annual operating plans.

What will you do?

  • Meet customer satisfaction objectives in the areas of order communications, on-time delivery, and installation as well as ongoing quality and reliability standards

  • Drive continuous improvement and productivity through the use of Thermo Fisher's Practical Process Improvement (PPI) methodology.

  • Lead and develop the team to high levels of Operational Excellence focusing on key site performance indicators/metrics including People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

  • Focus on driving key improvements using contemporary Lean Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management concepts.

  • Ensure the team is a key participant and stakeholder in the New Product Development process, with the goal of development and on-time launch of high quality products that meet cost, feature, and quality objectives.

  • The key decision maker for all subjects in the area of manufacturing and logistics operations, is responsible for meeting factory revenue targets of approximately $250M annually, and manages a team of approximately ten direct reports.

  • Lead and cultivate a safety first culture.

How will you get here?

  • We require a bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering; an MBA is preferred.

  • Candidates must have a minimum of ten years of progressive manufacturing operations management experience with a solid track record of advancement and a variety of functional experiences (supply chain, production, logistics, etc.).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Prior formal training and implementation experience in lean manufacturing concepts (5S, pull systems/kanban, DFT, value stream mapping, kaizen) is required.

  • Previous ERP experience is a must, with Oracle and SAP experience highly desired.

  • Experience with Six Sigma, and will have worked in an organization with complex consumable products where a structured New Product Development Phase Gate review process is in use with high levels of process compliance and effectiveness

Required Experience * Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution. * Typically requires advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. * Requires 7 years minimum prior relevant experience.
