Pay Grade: 18

Wage Rate: $120k+ DOE

Job Summary

The Senior Manager Maintenance and Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the maintenance and engineering team in the development, implementation, and execution of maintenance and engineering strategies that support the overall business objectives of the organization. The person in this role will manage the maintenance and engineering team to ensure the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the facility and equipment through project management, World Class Operations activities, Capital projects and other improvement methodologies. The department is responsible for the timely repair, maintenance and engineering improvements of the equipment used to print and form paper cups, lids, and ice cream containers on a 24/7 basis.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all equipment and systems via Preventative/Predictive Maintenance program and Computerized Maintenance Management System.

  • Lead the maintenance and engineering team in the execution of maintenance activities to ensure the reliability and availability of the facility and equipment by instituting practices that will improve facility and reduce cost.

  • Develop and implement engineering projects that improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the facility and equipment.

  • Manage the maintenance and engineering budget and ensure that expenditures are within budgetary limits.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and contractors to ensure that maintenance and engineering services are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to maintenance and engineering.

  • Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the maintenance and engineering team.

  • Develop and implement training programs for the maintenance and engineering team to enhance their skills and knowledge.

  • Provide technical expertise to other departments in the organization as needed.

  • Manage all engineering resources, captial project installations, process improvement projects.

  • Maintain all production equipment. Institute adequate maintenance practices to assure that production can meet production requirements.

  • Develope and recommend process improvements. Reduce cost of plant by improvement efforts.

  • Maintain building and grounds and facilities equipment (chillers, aircompressor, etc). Provide safe and reliable work area.

  • Work with outside consultants to improve facility for projects outside core capabilities.

  • Make improvement necessary to improve production equipment reliability through better use of resources.

  • Engineer improvement to reduce costs and make facility a long term success.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.

  • Ability to use computer software systems including Work, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project.

Preferred

  • 4-year B.S. Engineering degree, 5-10 yrs engineering management work experience.

  • 5-10 years maintenance management work experience - paper/printing manufacturing preferred.

  • 3-5 years Implementing a PM and CMMS systems (Mainsaver).

  • 1-3 yrs Continuous Improvement experience (Lean/SixSigma experience).

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments in the organization.

  • Strong project management certified.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Experince with Computer-aided drafting (AutoCad)

Environment

  • Spends approximately 50% of time walking and touring manufacturing areas.

  • Incumbent works in a manufacturing environment and will use the following equipment: computer, printer, copier, and telephone. Requires walking (50%), standing (40%) and sitting (10%). Requires full range of body motion such as twisting, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching at/above/below shoulders, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Required safety equipment: hair/beard net, safety glasses and ear plugs. Incumbent will be required to travel by plane and auto for training and exposure to new processes and equipment, visiting vendors/ customers, etc.

  • Required to work indoors as well as outdoors which can cause exposure to elements.
