Foot Locker, Inc. is on the lookout for a Sneaker-Inspired Sr. Manager for the IT Tools and Observability Services who elevates and revolutionizes how we build and run our software. As a Sneaker-Inspired Sr Manager of a Product Engineering team, you'll be a creative force in driving innovative solutions at the crossroads of technology and sneaker culture.
The Sr. Manager for the IT Tools and Observability team is responsible for the smart and talented automation engineers who provide observability services to the development and product teams within Foot Locker's Global Technology Services organization. This team focuses on providing a unified, standardized, scalable observability platform using modern technology stacks supporting a hybrid host environment. This team is also responsible for facilitating, managing, and providing governance around enterprise automation technologies which is being used to improve efficiency and reliability. You will use agile methodologies with the latest in automation practices and tools to facilitate a deploy "everything as code" environment.
Responsibilities
Create, enable, and mature observability as a mindset, habit, and core culture.
Leading a team of smart and talented product engineers to develop Observability-as-a-service, enable developer productivity; track and manage performance and growth of our observability and automation capabilities.
Identifying new opportunities for increased observability and automation within technology services while working to optimize and improve existing workflows.
Creating and orchestrating automation (e.g., effective alerting, monitoring, self-healing, etc.) to its fullest potential to support our hybrid infrastructure for availability, reliability, scalability, recoverability, and flexibility.
Collaborating with other business units to understand how the services that we are providing can continually improve.
Interfacing with software vendors to evaluate new capabilities, ensure adequate ongoing support and licensing, and drive clear and consistent governance.
Driving required upgrades, changes, and patching with the tools under your leadership.
Driving strategy, roadmaps, and end-of-life planning.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other equivalent majors.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in Information Technology
Minimum of 5yrs with SRE (Site Reliability Engineering), Observability, Automation, and/or other equivalent technology experience.
Knowledge of and experience with logging, monitoring, alerting, and visibility via API, WMI, SNMP, SSH, and tools (e.g., SolarWinds, New Relic APM, Dynatrace).
Experience with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
Development experience in any of the following specific languages (Python, Java, C#, Ansible, etc.).
Experience in observability of hybrid host environments and modern cloud-native application architectures using event-driven microservices backed by RESTful APIs
Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and CI/CD pipeline automation (GitHub or Github Action).
Strong leadership and communication skills to lead a highly nimble, hyper-collaborative, and cross functional team.
Ability to translate technical language and concepts into business-friendly and customer-centric communication and explanations.
Strong knowledge of systems, networks, hardware, and software from an automation & monitoring standpoint.
Work Environment
On-call support may be requireed in case of escalations
Occasional weekend and evening work may be required in case of escalations
Occasional leadership travel
Benefits
The annual base salary range is $115,000 -$150,000. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary for this position. This role is also eligible to receive short term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Salary will be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Salary is one component of the Foot Locker, Inc. total compensation package, which includes the below.
