Spectrum Brands utilizes a Shared Services model that enables resources to be leveraged across the organization. The Shared Services team is made up of information technology, human resources, indirect sourcing, finance & accounting professionals that support all business units. Shared services teams are headquartered in Middleton, Wisconsin but have members across the country.

Job Summary

This position requires the background, experience, and leadership skills necessary to provide effective global transportation, trade compliance and distribution program/project management. The position is responsible for managing timelines and execution of processes for center led transportation and distribution projects, process improvements and change management. The position reports to the Vice president of distribution and transportation works supporting the business owners, program and project managers, project sub-teams, and business leaders to ensure the successful completion of projects. Responsibilities include investigating, analyzing, evaluating and implementing long term strategic planning, coordinating timelines, communication, and transition activities. Additional responsibilities include facilitation of site and process rationalization.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Program/Project Management

  • Develop and maintain integrated logistics and transportation timelines and governance

  • Drive best practices for logistics execution and standardized at a global level and uniformly applied at a regional level for the physical distribution of products encompassing warehousing, trade compliance and local distribution

  • Represent on behalf of the logistics function when the org seeks to rationalize, review or invest in technology platforms that affects directly/indirectly

  • Meet all metrics including customer service, quality, savings, budgets, and schedules

  • Cost solution design and implementation plan for functional changes, including risk register, impact assessment and key performance measures

  • Escalates and resolves all issues related to the program or project in a timely manner

  • Reports out to the steering committees and senior leadership including with regional logistics manager and logistics operations manager

  • Provide expertise and recommendations on functional changes that deliver an improvement to operational productivity and cost optimization

  • Manage global logistics transitions including TMS, GTC, and SAP S4 HANA readiness, with understanding of local commercial, customer services and requirements

  • Innovation and creativity, see opportunities which may not be so obvious to others and interpret that into operational reality

  • Plan and implement strategic programs and improvement projects that may involve new technology and/or multi-site or division coordination

  • Leads the implementation of selected financial technology tools for new businesses

  • Ensures all projects follow the standard procedures used in the management and deployment, manages and directs project teams, analyzes and evaluates global best practice solutions

Process & Business Transformation

  • Help maximize value through all aspects of implementing global processes from operational due diligence through project execution

  • Develops, tracks, and reports on synergy metrics related to the projects assigned

  • Works with executive and management team to determine level of consistency desired

  • Focus on the process and ensure standardization, controls, efficiency and performance

  • Develops RACI matrices along with global process. Clarifies individuals/teams who are "responsible, accountable, consulted, and informed" about all important aspects of implementing and adhering to the process

  • Project manage the change using DMAIC framework: define & analyze the strategy & process, execute the communication & deployment and follow through the monitoring, measurement & improvement of the process

  • Engages the business subject matter experts to understand current processes and roadblocks to efficiency and ideas for improvement

  • Identifies, coordinates and project manages the business side of IT enhancements that may be needed to implement a process change

Change Management

  • Communicates the need for the change to help reduce barriers that may prevent change

  • Develops and manages plans including shared roadmaps and success metrics: communication, training, sustainment, sponsorship, leadership

  • Increase the speed of adoption to gain utilization to help people perform well in the new environment so the business realizes the ROI

  • Assist in driving corporate decisions to invest in operational improvements, such as process design and instill new practical approaches

  • Encourages early engagement of new initiatives at multiple levels of the hierarchy

General

  • Ensure compliance and best practices are utilized

  • Facilitate meetings to pull information and ensure scope of discussions stays on track

Education and Experience Profile

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree or higher in supply chain, engineering or another related field is required. Additional Project Management Institute PMI, certifications in Project/Program management. Strong experience with Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMPOK)

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Project Management in combination with logistics environment, encompassing global trade compliance, domestic distribution and transportation program/project management

  • SAP, Transportation Management System, TMS, Global Trade Compliance experience with proven project leadership and program management experience required in these experience areas

  • Strong analytical skills required. Knowledge of cross-functional supply chain business processes desired

  • Membership in professional organizations, project management or user groups

  • Excellent knowledge of the end-to-end supply chain, with a clarity for understanding the importance and interdependencies associated with each stage of the process - Plan, Source, Make, Deliver

Required Skills

  • This position requires prior experience managing large programs, in addition to leading and managing projects from initial formulation through successful completion

  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills in order to communicate effectively across all levels within the organization and multiple cultures

  • Must be experienced delivering to cost and schedule

  • Must be able to balance and meet multi-stakeholder demands in a rapid pace environment

  • Ability to analyze and organize facts to effectively present material both verbally and in writing

  • Effectively utilize communication skills, both oral and written, in order to present, influence and persuade other inside and outside of the organization

  • Interface with employees at all levels in the organization: the ability to provide leadership through influence

  • Must be skilled in facilitating dynamic, cross-functional teams to achieve outstanding performance

  • Meet deadlines and work under pressure, with limited supervision

  • Well-organized and a high level of attention to detail

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office, MS Project Work Breakdown Structures, Gantt timelines, with intermediate to advanced skill levels in SAP S4 HANA, Transportation Management, Global Trade Compliance Systems, spreadsheets, word processing, presentations, and project management

  • Must demonstrate the highest degree of confidentiality and integrity

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, lead, build team relationships, and recommend business strategies

  • Proven flexibility and results driven with excellent people skills

  • Strong communication skills, with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate with business stakeholders

  • An understanding of strategic business objectives and the ability to drive results toward them

  • Data gathering, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including business process metrics and measures linking to business metrics. Strong analytical and Information Technology skills

  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and customer service skills

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Working knowledge of the cost, timeline, and resources necessary in deploying technology solutions

Work Environment

  • Under normal operating conditions, this role will work with the usual Spectrum brands organizational policies and normal practices of the Distribution and Transportation organization. However, if the position is notified outside of normal working hours to conduct a trade compliance-related task that has critical business impact, one will be expected to perform the role out of hours to the extent required to protect the organization.

  • Availability to travel regularly to support internal reviews of project and program management readiness and updates to lead projects is required. Typical able to travel at least 25% internationally and domestically to perform assigned duties.
