Responsibilities:

The Principal Consultant, Marketing Planning and Strategy will provide Office Depot's Marketing Department with complex analysis, insights and recommendations in all aspects of the business to help Officers and Sr. Officers make optimal decisions. This position must exhibit analytical rigor on a wide variety of strategy and planning initiatives that span the Department or Company and with employees ranging from mid- to executive level management. The role is expected to coordinate and collaborate with other key Marketing analysis groups including Marketing Planning, Business Intelligence, Testing, and Predictive Modeling. The Principal Consultant, operating mostly independently, must drive integrated solutions to business issues and influence and maintain credibility at all levels of the Company.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years of experience

  • Demonstrated ability to frame and deliver clear, data-driven alternatives for executive-level decision-making

  • Ability to interface with other corporate functions including

E-commerce, Finance, and Information Technology

  • Deep knowledge of corporate finance, financial planning, analysis, reporting, and metadata

  • Ability to re-engineer complex cross-organizational processes and define the roles and responsibilities necessary to carry them out

  • Ability to derive accurate performance management systems to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of Marketing initiatives

  • Microsoft Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint), Visio, Project; statistical software (e.g., Crystal Ball, MATLAB, SSPS, SAS etc.)

The Senior Manager, Marketing is a highly important role combining program management, performance management, internal consulting, and cross-functional initiatives. The ideal candidate can be a strategic thought partner, while simultaneously driving day-to-day execution of key priorities. As a multi-skilled contributor, you are a strong cross-functional leader and comfortable working at all levels of the organization from C-suite to operational staff. This individual will work closely with our leaders on preparing impactful presentations articulating our marketing strategy, tactics and measurement to hit our objectives. Add personal insight, galvanize discussion and debate across the organization on key strategic issues, generating ideas and creative frameworks, and use a combination of facts, judgment, and personal impact to build credibility and influence outcomes. Reporting to the Vice President of B2B, Retail, Category, Services and Offer Strategy, this role will be a key driver in our mission to drive optimal performance and accelerate the future growth of Office Depot.

  • Work alongside Vice President assessing strategic priorities for marketing, creating cross functional marketing strategy and planning presentations that articulate how we go-to-market and drive traffic, sales and retention.

  • Keep team focused and aligned on key priorities. Work with managers to ensure company commitments and priorities are being executed on time. Provide consolidated oversight of initiatives, align teams and resources and provide regular, clear communications to stakeholders.

  • Lead the marketing planning process, financial planning and performance management for the department. Manage KPI dashboards and status reports on projects.

  • Identify and engage subject matter experts (SMEs), both internally and externally, to facilitate implementation of initiatives

  • Serve as an internal consultant on strategic and operational initiatives. Tackle complex marketing issues, benchmarking and best practice studies. Inspire operational excellence by defining processes and sharing best practices with the team.

  • Manage regular reporting cadence with senior leadership and develop insights and action plans to continuously improve performance

  • Work seamlessly with our marketing finance organization to ensure spend is compliant with company objectives and policies and managed to budget

  • Work with key stakeholders to collect, analyze, and update reports, dashboards, scorecards, and analysis

  • Communicate performance metrics to key executive stakeholders throughout the organization

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across business units, centers of expertise, and regions to align strategy and direction to execute strategic initiatives
