Job Summary

The Global Operational Health and Safety Sr Manager will provide leadership to, and management of, the Global Operational Health and Safety Teams and is the focal point for global health and safety regulatory leadership, management and provides advice to Operations, Drilling, Completions and Land Departments. The position must interface with management, staff and contractors about global compliance, policies, and standards. The Global Operational Health and Safety Sr Manager will also be responsible for the implementation of processes, management systems, programs and procedures designed to support safe and compliant operations, to ensure asset integrity, and to eliminate risks and liabilities to both personnel and the business. This role involves communication with regulatory agencies, industry committees and government bodies.
The ideal candidate will be a high-energy individual demonstrating a proactive and collaborative approach to developing solutions and implementing initiatives that enhance health and safety performance across the global business while actively engaging in industry best practices and industry groups, liaising with government agencies. They will also possess strong organizational skills, adept at managing multiple ongoing projects and prioritizing workloads. They should be skilled at building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external clients. They will lead and mentor teams to build proficiencies. And should be proficient in presenting to various levels of leadership, including executives.
The Sr Manager, Global Operational Health and Safety will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.
Responsibilities
Direct all company health and safety activities.
Advise management and applicable departments with project specific regulatory and government requirements and associated timelines.
Develop, implement and oversee safety, regulatory policies, programs and management systems
Provide health and safety regulatory and government liaison leadership to Murphy management and Business Unit leaders
Communicate and interface on the Company's behalf with regulatory bodies, government agencies and 3rd party health and safety regulatory consultants
Oversee health and safety regulatory audits from government agencies
Build and maintain relationships with peers in the industry and act as Murphy's representative at related industry committees
Identify regulatory requirements and implement health and safety and regulatory programs and procedures to ensure company compliance with (State, Federal, Provincial) regulations
Coordinate with Asset Teams on health and safety matters, including Process Safety Management (PSM), safety risk assessments, training, emergency response, safe working procedures, and contractor safety
Work with the Asset teams and contractors to review health and safety programs and procedures to drive improved health and safety performance
Track health and safety & regulatory related budget expenditures and support development of annual budget
Develop and maintain knowledge of existing and proposed regulations
Plan and execute the development of necessary permits and authorizations
Manage health and safety data in the company's data management system
Lead global health and safety initiatives and data analytics to drive continuous improvement
Qualifications/ Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science, Business or Biological Science
Minimum 15 years onshore oilfield experience with petroleum operations, production and drilling operations, and strong health and safety experience.
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally to US and Canada field locations
Understanding of upstream oil and gas industry
Experience in emergency response
Knowledge in risk/hazard evaluation
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, SAP & HSE Databases
