Primary Purpose of this Job

Manager of Accounting and Financial Reporting will lead a team of finance professionals responsible for general accounting, fixed assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and financial reporting. This is a hands-on position that will be responsible for managing the accounting operations, monthly close cycle, and financial reporting. This includes production of accurate and timely financial statements, maintenance of accounting records, and ensuring adequacy and compliance within the internal control environment designed to mitigate risk. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic, working independently and as part of a team. Possessing strong knowledge and experience in technical accounting and financial reporting.

Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned.)

  • Manage the team responsible for the day to day accounting operations to ensure that transactions are accurately recorded in compliance with GAAP, corporate/business unit policies, and regulatory reporting.

  • Responsible for the monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes, journal entry review, and accurate and timely preparation of internal and external financial statements and supporting financial information.

  • Perform analysis of key areas of the balance sheet and income statement accounts, including detailed reviews of monthly account reconciliations.

  • Report on financial results and provide relevant and timely analysis to various stakeholders including business unit executive team, corporate finance, internal/external audit, etc.

  • Maintain a system of internal control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state and local laws and rules for financial and tax reporting, safeguarding of corporate assets and assurance that reporting systems accurately capture all financial data.

  • Support and actively engage in budget and forecasting activities; collaborate throughout operations to understand fluctuations and to facilitate accuracy of information.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on technical accounting matters including new accounting standards, interpretation of financial policies, accounting theory, or financial regulations; recommend and implement appropriate actions.

  • Drive for continuous process improvement in all we do, including administrative processes, application of accounting principles, practices and controls.

Education Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Experience Required

  • Minimum 5-7 years of accounting experience showing progressive responsibilities.

Certification and Licensing Requirements

  • CPA candidate preferred

Knowledge of:

  • High proficiency with MS suite required (Excel, PPT, Word).

  • Strong working knowledge of general accounting, monthly close processes, and GAAP required.

  • Expertise with ERP systems, preferably Oracle EBS/Hyperion

Skilled in:

  • Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Effective interpersonal, leadership, and written and verbal communication skills.

  • Attention to detail, organization, and time management and prioritization skills.

Ability to:

  • Analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively and timely thru the implementation of long-term solutions.

  • Effectively negotiate and resolve conflict.

  • Foster collaborations, inspire confidence, and motivate individuals across diverse teams in a manufacturing environment in order to meet objectives.
