Position Summary:

Horizon Therapeutics is looking to build a best in class Executive Protection program to address the security needs of senior leadership. To that end we are seeking an experienced executive protection security professional with demonstrated ability to manage and implement the security requirements of Executive Committee (EC) level members, specifically that of the CEO. He / She must have prior experience with supporting executive protection needs of C-Suite level executives and their families including residential security, travel security, threat identification / response, and security awareness training. This role calls for the Senior Manager, EP to drive designated executive(s) to and from their residence on a regular basis, manage other third party vendor drivers, coordinate security needs for executive business travel, conduct in person / virtual "advances" for travel destinations, provide written concise trip briefing reports for executives and chief of staff, and accompany executives while on business and personal travel as needed. This individual will coordinate with the Sr. Manager, Global Security Operations Center & Intelligence on a regular basis to maintain situational awareness, identify threats and issues of concern, develop, and implement appropriate security countermeasures.

Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage EP program for company reporting directly to the Exec. Director, Corporate Security

  • Perform the duties as the primary executive protection resource

  • Manage third party vendor EP drivers and ensure they have proper training, instruction, and are briefed relative to their current and ongoing duties

  • Conduct site visits and prepare trip briefing reports aimed at identifying and mitigating threats through planning and proactive measures

  • Act as EP point of contact (POC) for Principal travel

  • Coordinate security needs with Meeting and Events team for all on and off-site special events, executive retreats, and company large scale meetings

  • Maintain situational awareness and updated intelligence with GSOC to assess current threat environment and required security needs

  • Coordinate residential and travel security requirements for Principle with local law enforcement and private sector resources such as venue / hotel security staff and third-party protective services

  • In consultation with security management, provide recommendations for program improvement based upon expertise and experience in areas of personal safety, security, and associated security technologies

  • Investigate and assess potential security risks at locations while Principal is present.

  • Identify the need for and manage local security resources such as POC's, contract security personnel, protective vehicle transport.

  • Provide recommendations and implement remediation actions on identified security related issues for respective Principles after conferral with and approval of the Exec. Director of Corporate Security

  • Travel with short notice, including international travel, as necessary

  • Provide emergency first aid/CPR services, if needed, and have relevant certifications

  • Responsible for the upkeep and good working order of the executive transportation fleet to include required equipment (first aid kits, AED devices, etc.).

  • Establish and cultivate contacts with public and private security professionals, organizations, and industry peers to maintain proficiency with respect to current threat trends and industry specific security matters of concern.

  • Perform other security related duties as directed

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years prior experience performing EP related duties for C-Suite level personnel in the private sector

  • Ability to effectively interact with senior leadership as a matter of routine

  • Prior law enforcement / military experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity.

  • Ability to legally possess or obtain a firearm carry permit

  • ASO Certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire

  • Certification in AED/First Aid/CPR

  • Prior executive driving experience & training is preferred

  • Ability to work long hours including weekends and nights

  • Strong knowledge of Chicagoland area

  • Ability to travel with the executive and maintain a current US passport

  • Ability to be discreet and maintain a high level of confidentiality

  • Excellent oral, written communication skills with a professional demeanor

  • Must be a highly motivated, mature, and responsible individual

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Criminal Justice or related fields

  • Customer service mindset

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Possess strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills: ability to gather and evaluate information and prepare written documents that clearly and concisely identify the issues presented and their proposed resolutions

  • Ability to apply predictive analytics in order to identify patterns and trends thereby allowing the individual to make educated response plans to support the required security needs

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Professional, proactive demeanor

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to liaison both internally and with external organizations such as law enforcement and first responders

  • Requires approximately 20% travel, including some overnight and weekend commitments.
