As Sr. Manager, Drive Unit - Prototype Build, Test & Validation, you will oversee the Motor Gearbox Build and Dyno testing teams within the Powertrain Engineering Operations department. These teams are critical for the successful research and development of current and future drive unit concepts to enable the successful deployment of industry-leading vehicles. You will be responsible for increasing build and test capabilities and capacity, in line with drive unit program road maps. In this role, you will work closely with engineering design, program management, manufacturing, and facilities teams to ensure development program timelines are maintained and fully supported.
The Role:
Management of both the prototype build and test teams, approximately 40 people currently
Define and drive multiple capability improvement initiatives, inclusive of business case generation in close collaboration with engineering development, facilities and finance teams
Ramp-up internal testing capacity to increase shift operation (24/7), both in people resource, operations management and equipment bring-up
Responsible for all Environmental Health and Safety topic within the labs, ensuring a safe working environment for all team personnel
Provide long-term capacity planning forecasts for all drive unit labs, in collaboration with program management team
Provide valuable input into the DVP&R strategy and execution, in collaboration with design and reliability teams
Oversee continuous improvement initiatives in all operational activities (build and test)
Budget management for build and test teams in addition to enhancing cost models to better analyze efficiency and optimization opportunities for program delivery
Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in leading engineering teams in operational labs, ideally in the automotive sector
Experience in operating a 24/7 operation (including shift management)
Proven people leadership capabilities.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders is a must
Experience leading process improvement initiatives.
Extensive experience of DVP&R process
Budget management
The candidate should demonstrate extensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical theory.
Preferred:
Ability to navigate and manage a team in an ambiguous landscape.
Capability to dive into the technical detail but also to see the broader holistic picture.
Ability to identify and quickly mitigate unforeseen problems creatively and effectively.
Experience with EE and environmental lab equipment is a plus.
Experience in a start-up environment as well as an established organization is a plus.
Knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
Education:
MS or BS in related Engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, systems, etc.)
MBA is a plus
Six Sigma qualification with proven implementation and tool usage a plus
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid's equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs. Base Pay Range (Annual)
$188,000-$250,000 USD
