Job Summary:

The Walt Disney Company's Direct-To-Consumer and International (DTCI) is a new, global business segment for The Walt Disney Company with the mission of providing consumers around the world access to the content they want most, on the latest platforms, at a time of rapidly-evolving consumer habits. Combining the Company's direct-to-consumer streaming services ESPN+, the Disney SVOD service coming in 2019 -- alongside Disney's international media businesses, DTCI aligns cutting-edge technology with world-class content and beloved brands to expand the Company's global footprint and deliver highly-personalized entertainment experiences to diverse consumers around the world.

This position will be responsible for driving the global content programming of general audience experiences in Disney+. This position will report to the Director, Content Programming.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive Disney+ global general audience content programming, promotion, retention, and engagement

  • Drive general audience editorial merchandising and promotion strategies

  • Create high-impact, curated programming events that leverage TWDC brands and franchises

  • Collaborate on regional and territorial editorial merchandising and promotion

  • Partner with TWDC marketing and global programming teams to ensure all priorities are coordinated appropriately

  • Partner with franchise and IP teams to support priority content campaigns

  • Partner with programming content optimization on testing needs, and testing implementation as needed

  • Partner with programming data & insights to take action on findings

  • Oversight of general audience content programming for original and catalog movie, series, and short form content for Disney+

  • Leverage market and behavior data, audience research to drive data and analytics that determine effective programming strategies

  • Identify general audience programming gaps and audience segment opportunities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Meticulous attention to detail

  • Deep understanding of The Walt Disney Company content library, brands, franchises, and characters

  • Strong understanding of digital media platforms, including hands-on management of web, app, streaming, and connected devices

  • Strategic, creative, and entrepreneurial mindset

  • Superior organizational, prioritization, and time management skills; ability to execute against multiple, high-priority projects, with a keen attention to detail and excellent follow through

  • Must be open to thinking outside of traditional models

  • Highly developed written and verbal communications skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with senior management, staff, and external research professionals

  • Advanced data literacy

  • Passion and insight into TWDC segments, brands and franchises, the elements that define them, and expertise to build further audience engagement

  • Strong emotional intelligence and collaborative spirit

  • Can manage multiple projects in varying stages of development

  • Able to lead people (both direct teams and indirect teams) to deliver above expectations

  • Proven ability to work across a matrixed organization while also able to self-motivate

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive working in an extremely fast-paced environment

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree minimum - preferably a degree in Business, Communications, Cinema/Television or related field

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in digital media, programming, and marketing or related fields

Preferred Education

  • Advanced degree

  • Minimum 3 years experience with TWDC brands, franchises, and content

  • Streaming experience
