Job Summary:

The Sr. Mgr. Breakthrough Engineering understands the business strategy and identifies breakthrough supply chain technologies to transform our business system.

The Sr. Mgr. will also serve as a subject matter expert with high level depth and breadth of technical knowledge cross-functionally. Breakthrough supply chain technologies include but are not limited to: robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, flexible manufacturing, "lights out" operations, advanced analytics, internet of things, vertical integration, and new distribution channels.

Provides management with technical advisements in the design and approach to major engineering and project management efforts. Interacts closely with senior management in an advisory capacity and with the managerial staff of Global Operations as an expert project management and engineering resource.

May represent the Company in professional and industrial organizations as required. Leads and manages diverse, and usually large, project teams comprised of both technical and non-technical Company persons, along with a broad composition of external contractors and suppliers. Able to simultaneously manage multiple large and complex projects, devises methods and procedures to ensure project commitments are delivered and communicates business critical project activities effectively to all levels of management.

Project budget and schedule decisions made have the potential to impact the Company. Works independently. Reports to Senior Director, Breakthrough Engineering

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Partners with Director to manage the supply chain innovation funnel from conception to delivery. Helps to prioritize work streams for projects within the funnel.

Actively leads and manages large and complex innovative projects of significant dollar amounts that have the potential to impact the Company business.

Able to simultaneously lead and manage multiple large capital projects and manage a large and diverse contractor and supplier base as such capital projects are implemented.

To successfully accomplish capital project objectives, able to lead and direct activities of persons not directly assigned to the project team, e.g., Marketing persons, S&OP persons, IE's, R&D members, etc

Ensures all project implementation activities are in full compliance with all corporate capital control policies and procedures.

Ensures all assigned technical team members are working in a collective manner, work is technically correct for the project scope, and all efforts are executed in a manner to maintain project budget and schedule.

When directing and managing non-THC persons contracted to support the project implementation commitments, represents the Company in a manner as outlined in the Corporate Code of Business Ethics, and ensures all contractors and suppliers adhere to applicable Company safety, security, and contractual requirements.

Actively involved in the development of the future major capital projects that has the potential to impact the Company's business.

Provides technical, schedule, and budgeting advisements during the project development processes.

Provides key engineering functional advisements and direction to GOE management and Global Operations management during project development activities to ensure full project scopes, schedules, and budgets are developed, challenged, and critiqued.

Provides mentoring and coaching to more junior engineers, technical specialists, and project managers to provide opportunities for them to develop critical technical, management, and business skills to create the next generation of GOE technical and leadership personnel.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent experience

  • 20 plus years of major engineering project management experience

  • Experience with complex supply chains, supply chain systems, and advanced engineering technology

Gross Sales (Revenue Recognition) 2. Trade Promotions 3. Returns, Discounts and Allowances (RDA's) 4. Direct Marketing Expenses. Primary responsibilities include accurately matching the timing of expense with the associated sales, establishing multiple judgmental reserve components (in accordance with GAAP) to ensure proper coverage of future liabilities, overseeing the accounting/ reporting function, and maintaining a sound internal control environment including many SOX controls. Trade Promotion is a high risk area of the Company therefore this position will create and implement new processes to report against the constantly changing environment and develop analytical models to assess the status of reserves and communicate results/reserve status to Hershey Senior Management, external auditors and various internal departments on a regular basis. This position is responsible for the development and communication of various accounting policies and procedures related to these activities. Responsibilities: Accounting * Coordinate the timely and accurate execution of the monthly close process as it relates to trade promotions, RDA's & DME's. * Responsibilities to achieve this objective include monitoring financial systems, analyzing sales and expense activity, awareness of the impacts of inter-connected systems/processes and current knowledge of all relevant regulatory guidance * Establish necessary analysis and reporting to identify and recommend reserve adjustments to Senior Financial Management and external auditors. * Assist with month-end variance explanations to management. * Partner with Sales & Marketing Finance to maintain a current knowledge of customer & brand trends and ensure that financial results accurately reflect any changes. Financial Analysis * Leverage various systems (i.e. SAP, Trade Promotion & DME System) to implement specific program and category analysis required to support accruals and reserve adjustments. * Proactively initiate value-added financial and business related analysis throughout the month. * Provide management with various periodic analyses reflecting trends and future watch outs in sales, trade and RDA's. Controls and Compliance * Ensure all controls, including SOX controls related areas assigned to the Controller Group are followed and understood by the various departments involved. * Proactively review controls to ensure relevant in the changing environment. * Assist with working globally with other countries to provide BDP's and address policy questions. * Develop, perform and prepare summaries to communicate to Senior Leaders on compliance reviews within all areas of Net Sales & DME to ensure policies and procedures are followed and relevant. * Assist in the development, maintenance and communication of financial and internal control policies/procedures. * Provide assistance to the business on any areas of concern related to processes within net sales on and as needed basis. Knowledge/Skills: * Strong Analytical skills * Knowledge of accounting and policies and procedures * Strong Excel skills * Strong computer skills – comfortable using various systems * Strong Leadership, collaboration and teambuilding skills * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with Hershey Senior Management and external auditors * Ability to synthesize massive amounts of data into clear, concise conclusions for management Education/Certification: * B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent (CPA, CMA, MBA preferred).
