Overview

The Sr. Manager, Branch Operations is an operations leadership position responsible for organizing, motivating, and leading the branch operations team within their territory. This role is ultimately responsible for the safety, quality, efficiency, and customer experience of solar installation projects. The Sr. Manager, Branch Operations is co-accountable for their area's financial performance in partnership with Sales Managers. Additionally, the Sr. Manager, Branch Operations will drive continuous improvement through branch operations in partnership with functional leadership. The candidate will have a track record with proven leadership abilities (communication, relationship building, training & development, employee relations, performance management, etc.) as well as solar installation knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, motivate, and mentor Supervisors along with a variety of personnel involved in the installation and maintenance of solar projects to create a positive, constructive, and performance driven dynamic, while driving efficiencies

  • Evaluate and manage the resources and processes required for the successful completion of residential solar projects. Ensures the focus on Safety, Quality, Customers Service, and Profitability

  • Uphold the importance of adhering to all safety practices, ensuring that each team member receives the proper safety training and equipment applicable to their position

  • Drive "Best Practices" throughout individual branch operations. Once a "Best Practice" has been identified, ensure that the practice is visible nationally

  • Work closely with the Regional Director of Operations to provide accurate installation forecasts, set performance targets, deliver branch performance reporting, and create action plans as needed

  • Understand and manage branch performance to key performance metrics

  • Utilize data to drive decision making, process improvement, and uncover performance, cost or quality opportunities

  • Work closely with the Sales Manager(s) to understand sales performance trending and position resources as required by sales volume

  • Co-accountability with Sales Manager(s) for the financial performance of the Branch

  • Work to ensure that we are delivering an excellent customer experience and resolve escalated installation issues and customer concerns with all necessary internal departments and stakeholders

  • Negotiate solutions, resolve conflicts and provide solutions in the best interest of Sunrun, and our customers and employees

  • Assist in the training and mentoring of new members to the Operations Leadership Team

  • Act as a leader within the region. Understand the priorities of the region and support the Director, Regional Operations when necessary

Qualifications

  • 5 - 8 + years business/construction experience

  • 3 + years construction leadership experience

  • Undergraduate degree in business, operations, or construction management

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Excellent people skills, able to manage, motivate and discipline if necessary. Capable of building world-class branch operations

  • This position requires risk analysis, critical thinking and the ability to provide solutions to the benefit of the company, individual branches, and projects. Excellent problem solving skills are required

  • A clearly defined strategic thought process and a continuous improvement mindset

  • Demonstrates high level accountability, makes and delivers on impeccable agreements

  • Ability to influence through data and business analysis

  • Confident to liaise at all levels, articulate with good presentation skills

  • Ability to work and lead effectively in cross-functional teams

  • Operationally focused; detailed oriented but able to grasp big picture

  • Excellent skills with MS Excel, MS Word and project management tools (MS Project)

  • Familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle) and CRM systems (Salesforce.com) is a plus

  • Most importantly, any candidate must fit a company spirit where people work smart, play hard, have fun and are dedicated to success

  • Ability to drive a vehicle during the normal course of business. Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check. Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license

Physical Demands

  • Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body

  • Be able to work in various positions, including, but not limited to: stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time

  • Be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks

  • Be able to lift 50 pounds of weight frequently throughout assigned workday

  • Ability to set up, secure and climb a 20 foot ladder onto rooftop of various angles and surfaces

  • Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions

  • Have adequate visual and hearing acuity to follow instructions; operate machinery and equipment; and determine accuracy of the work assigned

  • Ability to work for extended periods of time on surfaces of various heights and angles

Ability to drive a vehicle during the normal course of business. Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check. Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
