JAKKS Pacific, Inc., a leading designer and marketer of toys and consumer products, with a wide range of products that feature some of the most popular brands and children's toy licenses in the world, currently seeks an experienced, energetic, self-starter for the role of Senior Manager, Accounting and Reporting for our headquarters in Santa Monica, CA. This role will report to the VP, Accounting and supervise the more complex areas of the month-end close process and quarterly and annual SEC reporting process. This role also offers the opportunity to work closely with the Corporate FP&A team and develop an understanding of the business, industry, and corporate strategy.
Responsibilities include:
Manage, monitor, and review the month-end/quarter-end accounting close process to ensure accurate accounting records in a timely manner
Support the day-to-day operational accounting function
Lead the review of accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports created by staff to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformity to reporting and procedural standards
Lead the preparation of SEC filings (e.g. 10Q and 10K)
Lead the research of technical accounting issues, preparation of technical accounting memos and the implementation of new accounting pronouncements
Lead the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of internal controls for SOX compliance
Manage the transfer pricing process and related calculations
Supervise and aid the resolution of complex accounting issues
Supervise and mentor junior team members
Collaborate with the Corporate FP&A team on quarterly forecasting efforts by supplying insights into the Company's financial performance
Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend and/or develop solutions to business and financial issues
Regularly interact with the global accounting teams and address technical questions as needed
Support the coordination of internal and external audits, and quarterly reviews
Assist with tax returns and statutory audits/filings for multiple jurisdictions
Support special/ad-hoc projects, as needed
Skills & Experience required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required, public accounting experience required
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and its applications
Active CPA license required
7-10 years of progressive accounting experience
Team spirit and strong sense of responsibility and ownership
Experience leading a team required
Experience with SOX 404b and internal controls required
SEC reporting experience, whether as preparer or auditor, required
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Strong knowledge of ERP accounting software and database programs (experience with JD Edwards a plus)
Strong quantitative, analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Detail-oriented and ability to prioritize work
Ability and willingness to lead by example, take initiative and apply curiosity to develop new approaches and solutions
Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Overtime as required

Compensation: JAKKS Pacific offers a competitive salary. Compensation for this role commensurate with experience, qualifications, location, and education and typically ranges from $140,000-$170,000.
