Our client is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to join our corporate IT mainframe team headquartered in Rochelle Park, NJ. The talented person in this role is responsible for (but not limited to) the planning, development, documenting, performing quality assurance on software applications and interfaces in a Retail environment.


  • Performs functional/technical research and analysis on current software applications or interfaces.

  • Performs functional/technical research and analysis for the development and design of new software applications or the implementation of vendor-supplied applications.

  • Discusses and documents software solutions with team members and business users.

  • Creates design/technical specifications.

  • Develops, tests, implements and supports software solutions.

  • Presents design, analysis and problem solutions to peers and management.

  • Follows formal established project development methodology and completes deliverables according to project plans.

  • Interfaces with all departments within the corporation.

  • Provides on call (off hours) support in rotation with other team members

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Computer Science, IT or related discipline

  • Experience with analysis, design, development and tuning of applications in a mainframe environment.

  • 5 years of programming experience with 3 years in systems/applications support required.

Technical Skills (Required)


Technical Skills (Preferred)

  • Mainframe ? CICS, IDMS and DB2

This position is primarily a design/analysis role with some field responsibilities. Your Key Responsibilities * Preparing structural design calculations in accordance with applicable design standards and Agencies (i.e. AASHTO, IBC, ACI, AISC, NJDOT, NJTA & NYSDOT). * Performing structural analysis of new designs and existing structures (bridges, retaining walls, sign structures, culverts, etc.). Experience with concrete design and construction is also preferred. * Leading and reviewing conceptual design alternatives in order to develop innovative and cost effective design solutions. * Preparing contract documents including, but not limited to, conceptual design alternatives, contract drawings, and specifications. * Preparing technical specifications and special provisions. * Reviewing contract shop drawings for conformance with contract design. * Tender document preparation and contract management. * Assistant team leader for biennial bridge inspection projects; writing bridge inspection reports. * Preparing repair details. * Regular collaboration with colleagues in other offices and different areas of expertise in an integrated design environment.
