Major Areas of Accountability

  • Communicates with customers verbally and in writing to negotiate repayment of past due loans. Through understanding of customer's delinquency, determines appropriate strategies to obtain payment and that is equitable for TCF and our customers.

  • Handles difficult customers and unusual situations independently

  • Maintain concise records of all accounts

  • Keep well informed on the status of all delinquent accounts by setting up and maintaining an orderly and accurate tickler file, office filing, and record keeping system which facilitates the timely performance or collection responsibilities and prompt retrieval of information needed

  • Advises customers of their responsibility under the mortgage contract and counsels them regarding the budgeting of payments

  • Reviews and processes delinquent mortgage payments and insufficient funds checks

  • Handle extension and due date changes

  • Assists in the collection/recovery of account of other staff members during absences due to illness, vacation, etc.

  • Prepares periodic reports on delinquent loans and collections activities as required

  • Skip trace to locate good contact information for customers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school education or equivalent

  • Two or more years of prior collections work experience required

  • Current knowledge of corporate, investor, insurance company, foreclosure and government collection regulations

  • Ability to handle difficult customers and unusual situations independently

  • Demonstrated ability to listen and work with customers to accomplish workable solutions to default problems

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of and ability to use correct grammar, spelling and punctuation

  • Excellent negotiation skills

  • Ability to work independently; excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to type with accuracy and speed (35-40 wpm) plus working knowledge of Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education at a business or vocational school

  • 3 years' experience working in a collections environment

  • Previous lending experience

VIEW JOBS 2/12/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-12T00:00 The Affordable Lending Product Manager will work with the Director of Affordable Lending to develop strategies and solutions that meet the mortgage lending needs and create homeownership opportunities for low-to-moderate income and multi-cultural borrowers in the communities TCF serves. This role brings a unique blend of product development, strong research, reporting and analytics, project management, and stakeholder engagement. This role will prioritize, optimize and execute on products and strategies and effectively measure performance indicators that are key to TCF's goal of being a recognized leader in residential affordable lending. Major Areas of Accountability * Complete data mining of internal data sources to identify, analyze and interpret trends in complex data. Transform analyses into concrete, actionable recommendations to support he affordable lending strategic plan. * Validate that solutions and products meet business objectives using quantitative and qualitative data. Create and maintain operational reports and dashboards on new solutions. Identify insightful metrics, trends and variances to identify continuous improvement opportunities. * Conduct suitability assessments for unique product offerings. Work with internal sources (capital markets, finance, loan officers, community development managers, marketing) to source and evaluate relevant product offerings and determine best strategic fit. * Develop market segmentation framework to determine product needs for target communities. Define and quantify client populations for specific areas to inform strategic impact and volume projections. * Research and identify industry best practices and trends to increase effectiveness. * Identify and track Key Performance Indicators; accountable to ensure that KPIs are delivering necessary business value. * Consistently and iteratively ensure that business strategies are being executed through product roadmaps. * Identify and seek to improve opportunities for process enhancements and develop/implement data-driven solutions in collaboration with business partners and stakeholders. * Acquire, maintain and apply advanced knowledge of the business, its products and processes. * Accountable to ensure that product teams understand the business outcomes needed, and that business outcomes are tied to broader business objectives. * Work with Capital Markets and Finance to quantify risk and returns for the affordable lending portfolio. * Develop core partnerships with the Lending team, Community Banking leaders, Business Intelligence team, IT/Salesforce, and Marketing teams. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience with emphasis in finance or operations management * 8 years' relevant business experience in the mortgage industry with extensive experience in business analytics and business development. Experience in the non-profit housing sector and capital markets, finance, or mortgage origination is highly preferred. * Passion for and understanding of affordable lending customer segments * Strong communicator and communication ability to all levels of seniority and disciplines within the organization * Proven success developing business cases, roadmaps, and product execution strategies * Technical expertise in data mining, data analysis, segmentation, data visualization and reporting and analytics using Tableau * Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with high attention to detail and accuracy * Exceptional verbal and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills * Experience preparing, summarizing and presenting information and recommendations to management * Critical thinking skills, ability to define problems, establish facts and draw conclusions * Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals across the organization * Ability to think long term and big picture, and to connect tactical solutions to a long-term plan * Ability to visualize problems, ask the right questions and find the right inputs Preferred Qualifications * Experience with strategic planning * Prior experience as a Product Owner or Business Manager * Proven experience in leading and influencing cross-functional teams * Successfully operates in a matrixed environment, sharing knowledge and coaching to drive high performance Build your career with TCF You have room to grow at TCF.
