Aquila is seeking a Senior System Administrator to contribute to one of this country's premier defense research organizations. This position will work within a defense research group that creates and transitions advanced technologies to ensure the security and resiliency of next-generation mission-critical systems. The group's research and development mission focuses on a wide range of systems, from drones and satellites, handheld devices, and miniature sensors, to high-performance, secure cloud computing, and more. The position is responsible for installing new desktop and server infrastructure, applying DoD security controls to operating systems and applications, as well as patching and maintaining the IT infrastructure and maintaining documentation on the wiki. Desktop support will also be provided to research staff.

Create, administrator and service accounts, maintain system documentation, and tune system performance, install and maintain system software, and allocate mass storage space
Maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems
Ensure security compliance, respond to scan results, proactively remediate issues
Conduct systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies
Write scripts and use configuration management tools to automate repetitive tasks and manage complicated deployments.
Provide and monitor back-up and recovery processes
Experience with Linux as a desktop and server OS, including provisioning, securing, and maintenance with an emphasis on CentOS7, RHEL 7, and Ubuntu16+
Experience with administering and supporting Windows and macOS desktop operating systems
Support desktop configurations, server installations, applications, and technologies.
Deploy systems to bare metal and VMware ESXi/vCenter environments
Develop scripts with shell and a language such as Perl, Python, or Powershell
Hardware experience with desktops, laptops, and servers
Deploy and manage Active Directory and LDAP infrastructure, integrating with web applications
Deploy, monitor, and centralize logging tools to enhance security awareness and problem remediation
Implementing compliance, following DISA STIG requirements
Experience working with: Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook), SAP
Experience with Satellite or Katello/Foreman for Linux deployment and maintenance
Server and storage networking including management of DHCP, DNS, VLANs, firewalls, and TLS
Experience with container technologies like Docker, Linux cgroups, and orchestration tools like Kubernetes
Deployment automation with Ansible and other tools such as Vagrant, Terr=form, Puppet, Chef, or cloud-init
Experience administering Atlassian tools such as Jira, Bamboo, Crowd, et=.
Source control using Git, GitHub, GitFlow, SVN
Conduct database administration with PostgreSQL or MySQL
Experience with AWS virtualization, networking, storage, and user access
Server purchasing, racking, and networking in a data center environment
Education and other Requirements:
Possess and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance
Master's degree in computer software, computer management, IT systems, physical sciences or mathematics and a minimum of eight years of experience, or equivalent
