Senior Legal Editor

Temporary (6 months) Contract Need
Remote or on site at office in NYC (30 to 40 hours per week)
Pay Rate: 42/hr

The Senior Legal Editor editor will draft and edit summaries of SEC administrative and litigation settlements.

Qualifications:
JD required
5+ years experience working as a litigator in a law firm, public company, or the SEC, with significant experience litigating SEC actions (both administrative proceedings and in federal district court).
Keen interest in, and understanding of, the SEC enforcement process and court procedure.
Experience in the following areas of securities litigation and enforcement is strongly preferred:
Fraud
Insider Trading
Securities Offerings
Corporate reporting and accounting issues
Broker/Dealer and Investment Adviser obligations
Passion for writing and good editing skills, including:
Ability to write about complex legal issues clearly and simply.
Strong command of grammar, punctuation, and plain English;
Detail-oriented

Second-Shift Editor to provide guidance to second-shift Jr Editor/Editor-level staff. Editor will provide day-to-day managerial support as needed, including co-monitoring workflow to aid Second-Shift Editorial Manager with prioritizing and delegating to other second-shift editors. Assumes managerial responsibility in absence of Second-Shift Editorial Manager: prioritizing and expediting workflow; troubleshooting content and process issues; and maintaining communication with producers, brand editors, and team members as needed. Identifies, communicates, and offers solutions for areas of second-shift and departmental improvement. Serves as editorial point person for new business initiatives (presentation decks, concepts, branding materials) in absence of Second-Shift Editorial Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Copyediting, proofreading, and fact-checking on assigned accounts as well as other accounts as needed * Generates and updates style sheets * Ability to quickly master specifics of assigned accounts and product categories, as well as accommodate multiple assignments effectively * Helps to enforce OPDP/regulatory guidelines * Extensive interaction and follow-through with account teams * Good evaluative and decision-making skills * Establishes and communicates workload priorities to manager and night staff REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS * Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and AMA style * Familiar with FDA compliance mandates for pharma promotions * Familiarity with a variety of product categories and therapeutic classes * Prior launch experience * Competency in current and relevant computer-related technologies and applications (PDF markup in Adobe Acrobat, electronic routing) EDUCATION * Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent experience required EXPERIENCE * 2 years of editorial experience in a pharma agency environment OTHER INFORMATION Typical hours are 9:00am-5:00pm, but the position may require work beyond those hours, including after hours or weekends, as needed or directed.
