Develop, design, and write training curriculum. Will oversee, lead, implement, coordinate, and/or provide training. Evaluate training effectiveness and monitor quality to support the retention of covered material and to contribute to the professional growth of associates. Provide direction on the assessment of programs and methodologies to ensure that development and training initiatives are successful.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop, coordinate, and produce training programs using adult learning principles to contribute to the success of personnel. Identify appropriate tools to ensure curriculum meets learning objectives and contributes to an overall, enhanced performance outcome. Design and implement studies to determine training effectiveness and deliver educational programs as needed. Consult with management regarding training needs and management development.

  • Oversee, develop, update and maintain training materials and procedures in an accurate and timely manner in order to support the staff and functions of the department. Revise training procedures and related documentation as needed. Calibrate with management to design and execute/support development initiatives and identify appropriate support resources and processes. May oversee the development of new training programs.

  • Monitor training effectiveness by observing training sessions. Prepare and deliver observation evaluations in order to provide performance evaluations as well as recommendations to management on possible improvement opportunities. May research, evaluate and prepare cost benefit analysis and make recommendations regarding technology based training.

  • Ensure representation on special projects. Maintain current knowledge of company products and services, relevant systems and various methods of training delivery.

  • Monitor reviews and/or evaluate the quality of service provided by department staff to measure quality and identify non-conformance. May provide regular coaching and feedback to individual staff.

  • Review and/or handle appeals or elevated issues as appropriate.

  • Prepare reports of quality results for use by management in evaluating performance or developing training.

  • Schedule staff to assure adequate/required service level coverage for customers.

  • Validate the accuracy of decisions and processes for adherence to set standards and/or applicable regulations or requirements. May work with external parties for resolution.

  • Continue to develop knowledge and stay abreast of all applicable changes in industry laws and regulations.

  • This position may require frequent standing or walking for extended periods of time.

  • This position requires up to 33% travel, which may include flying and/or driving and some overnight stays.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience in the development of quality training materials and procedures and the delivery of effective training in a variety of environments.

  • Knowledge of insurance products (i.e. Medicare Supplement, Long-Term Care, Disability Income and Accidental Death, Life insurance and annuity), claims processing and billing procedures and/or knowledge of a brokerage or agency distribution model procedures, products and method

  • Highly developed leadership skills.

  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and well-developed/excellent classroom/presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated teamwork, initiative and the ability to accomplish tasks independently with minimal direction and continuous process improvement efforts.

  • Broad knowledge of insurance industry and strong understanding of corporate and division policies, practices and procedures.

  • Strong technical background with ability to use various software applications and ability to manage integration of business systems (systems include Genesys/GAD, Confluence, JIRA, Qfiniti, Martet On Demand, Peoplesoft, CC Pulst, MS office suite of products).

  • Strong Human Relations and Customer Service skills.

  • Experience managing customer relationships in a customer facing environment.

  • Ability to handle detail work accurately within established deadlines and under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with process and procedure training.

  • Experience with insurance training.

  • Ability to methodically and consistently manage customer relationships on an individual level to support profitable growth.

  • Thorough knowledge of the development, application, facilitation and evaluation of various techniques, methodologies and processes related to learning, business processes, and testing.

Duties include: completing extrication and scene stabilization, stabilizing and removing basic hazmat threats, and maintaining basic cleanliness of the fire hall. Work performed with moderate supervision. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.) * Responds to all types of fires and other emergencies; performs searches, suppresses and extinguishes fires, and performs related life and property protection; provides emergency and medical care at a basic and advanced life support level; and, performs vehicle extrications. * Identifies, isolates, and contains hazardous materials in a safe and effective manner. * Drives emergency vehicles and operates related apparatus in order to respond to emergency calls and scenes; may drive and operate a boat in emergency situations. * Participates in on-going training and education sessions. * Ensures the proper condition, maintenance, and appearance of apparatus and equipment; prepares and ensures vehicles and apparatus are ready for immediate response. * Participates in the daily functions of the fire station, which may include: housekeeping, cooking, maintenance activities, and/or performing other related duties. * Assists in completing and maintaining records related to personnel, incidents, and/or other related items. * Participates in fire department programs, such as pre-fire planning, fire prevention programs, and/or fire hydrant checks. * Participates in and/or facilitates training sessions and station tours to the public on fire related topics. * Performs other duties as assigned. ASSIGNMENT DUTIES: Hazardous Materials * Mitigating hazardous materials scenarios; * Implementing site safety and control plans; * Controlling, containing, and/or confining hazardous substances. Urban Search & Rescue * Executing specialized rescue scenarios and stabilizing scenes, such as vehicle extrications, high and low angle rope/trench rescues, confined space/building collapse rescues, airplane entrapment rescues, and other related activities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma, or G.E.D. and two years of Firefighter experience. LICENSING AND CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Tennessee Driver's License with F endorsement Firefighter I Certification EMT-IV Certification (AEMT) Hazardous Materials Technician Certification High Angle Rope/ Confined Space Rescue Certification Trench Rescue Certification KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of fire suppression techniques; modern firefighting and rescue principles and tactics; vehicle extrication methods; city geography; fire behavior; hazardous materials; customer service principles; emergency medical care; and vehicle, equipment, and apparatus maintenance principles and techniques.
