Requirements

The position of R&T Engineer holds an important purpose in Envalior.  First, the position manages all data generation for the region including, but not limited to OEM specifications.  Additionally, the position provides general technical support to both our commercial and lab team.  This position plays an important role for safety at the Troy site. The end goal for the position is to support the commercial team’s efforts to maintain and grow profitable business at both existing and new customers.

Main Responsibilities

Work with Customer Service from the various regions to order materials and have them delivered to the respective lab for molding/testing to begin OEM specifications and Color Development Request (CDR) if tied to a specification.

Determine if the testing can be done within Americas Research and Technology Center (ARTC) laboratories or other global labs. If externally, work with ARTC Lab Manager to have work completed.

Ensure the mechanical and physical data meets internal specifications and ranges of the various production sites.

Compile summary documents for data packet generation for customer presentation and approval. Communicate to stakeholders any deviations of results and potential reasons for the deviations. 

Manage customer agreements and data sets in defined databases.

Sample Manager Requestor (LIMS)

Place in jobs on behalf of the Commercial Team in Sample Manager to both regional and global labs.

Work on lab, site, and safety document procedures. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to scheduling MOC meetings, writing the SOP, business impact document if new software needs to be installed, etc.

Liaison between Envalior and the external parties who service the lab equipment, IT, and fire system.

Delegate task to other lab members to assist with work permits, and additional safety topics.

Impact of the position

R&T Engineer plays an important role to  Envalior, as they support the company by helping to receive approvals at various OEMs. These approvals are not only for the Americas region, but to other global production sites. This individual will act as the liaison between the Lab and Commercial Team to ensure data generation is on track to meet the SOP for various external customers. In addition to supporting specifications, the Sr R&T engineer will aid the Commercial Team by submitting jobs to Sample Manager and conveying to their requestors when the job will be completed by.  This person needs to know or willing to learn about the various test methods and how the test was performed at the various lab. Assist in reducing external spend by knowing which internal labs can perform the testing to meet the customer’s testing requirements. In addition to preparing OEM specifications and being  the main contact person for safety related items.

This position has close interaction within the rest of the R&D regional and global organization such as Technical Product Managers, Material Specialists for OEM approvals, and Global Product Development.

Furthermore, the R&T Engineer interacts very closely with various lab teams, Customer Service, application development engineers, and account managers.

What we expect of you

Hold a Bachelor or PHD degree in Chemistry, Material Science or related field.

Possesses a minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience; additional years are advantageous.

Demonstrate customer service experience is required.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbally and in writing.

Navigate seamlessly in a diverse, multicultural setting, demonstrating your effective operation in multi-disciplinary environments.
