Job Description

Gilead Sciences is a biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and commercializes innovative therapeutics in areas of unmet medical need. The Sr. IT Vendor Manager serves as a consultant for technology and services within the Gilead supplier base. This role involves resolving issues, tracking performance, managing risk, identifying savings opportunities, and communicating vendor-related topics to all levels, both internal and external. Experience in managing SOW vendor relationships-staffing, sourcing, and professional services-is ideal, along with experience in software management. The goal is to lead all aspects of vendor management at a high level, partnering closely with IT Leaders, Business Stakeholders, and Procurement. Vendor Management involves actively creating, monitoring, and cultivating relationships with vendors to ensure business objectives are achieved. The Sr. IT Vendor Manager role is critical in ensuring that vendor relationships are effectively managed to support the business's strategic objectives and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Strategic Development and Execution:

  • Participate in teams to develop and execute strategies that increase savings, efficiency, and reduce risks.

  • Provide deep analytical, communication, and project management skills.

  • Performance Monitoring:

  • Reporting and tracking of KPIs.

  • Arranging and conducting Supplier Business Reviews.

  • Setting mutually beneficial business goals.

  • Developing escalation processes and key contacts lists.

  • Vendor Management:

  • Provide proactive management to ensure adherence to contract terms and realization of contractual benefits.

  • Maintain resilience and continuity by engaging in constant dialogue with key Third Party vendors, assessing ongoing risks, and making alternative plans if required.

  • Periodically assess compliance to minimize risks associated with legislation or company standards.

  • Maintain a close working relationship with vendors to reduce risk through regular performance management, surfacing and mitigating issues in a timely manner.

  • Innovation and Growth:

  • Develop ideas to grow and innovate technologies, leveraging close relationships with vendors to capitalize on advancements in their products or services.

  • Financial and Compliance Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for PO and invoice tracking and management of Tier 1 suppliers for IT to ensure compliance.

  • Assist senior leaders in managing specific vendor relationships.

  • Participate in the purchase process and verify compliance with Technology's purchasing procedures.

  • Assist with the assessment and management of contract and procurement risk.

  • Market Analysis and Knowledge Resource:

  • Conduct market analysis and identify trends in the technology industry.

  • Assist Technology organization managers with documenting requirements and vendor-related issues.

  • Stay abreast of contract and purchasing compliance, routinely informing Technology's customers.

  • Serve as a knowledge resource for the Technology organization on existing contracts and agreements.

  • Represent Technology on interdepartmental project teams.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Degree and Twelve Years Experience OR Associate's Degree and Ten Years Experience OR Bachelor's Degree and Eight Years Experience OR Master's Degree and Six Years Experience OR PhD

  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of IT and the service catalog and assigned departments/business areas

  • Strong communication, excellent research skills, and learning agility to understand internal business or IT process, best practices and translate into technology needs/opportunities

  • Strong work ethic, a sense of business urgency, and ability to work effectively with many deadlines in a complex matrix organization

  • Extensive experience in stakeholder management, dealing with senior management up to executive level

  • Strong business acumen

  • Possesses strong leadership skills and able to make critical decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to find innovative ways to resolve problems

  • Strong executive-level verbal and written communications

  • Ability to work with dispersed and global teams and locations

  • Excellent at interpersonal skills and relationship development

  • Specific experience in the Life Sciences/Pharma/Medical Devices/Healthcare industries is preferred

The salary range for this position is: $139,995.00 - $181,170.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
