Verisign, a global leader in domain name registry services and internet infrastructure, enables internet navigation for many of the world's most recognized domain names. Verisign enables the security, stability, and resiliency of key internet infrastructure and services, including providing root zone maintainer services, operating two of the 13 global internet root servers, and providing registration services and authoritative resolution for the .com and .net top-level domains, which support the majority of global e-commerce.

The Senior Network Architect plays a vital role in the evolution of the Verisign data center, WAN and security strategies on the Network Architecture, Engineering & Automation, and Operations team. This person will play a crucial role in the Verisign data center evolution to public and private cloud. This evolution will focus on containerization and micro-segmentation security solutions.

This position collaborates with various stakeholders throughout the business to define requirement specifications that drive end goal solutions and vendor selections. The incumbent serves as an expert in the areas of internet routing protocol operation, network analysis and statistics generation, vendor and hardware/software selection, peering & transit issues, security mechanisms, attack mitigation, capacity planning, router, switch and firewall configuration, troubleshooting, and end-to-end network engineering.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with various stakeholders throughout the business to define requirement specifications. These requirements will drive the end goal solutions and vendor selections and develops plans and strategies for improving processes and project direction.

  • Authors architectural artifacts that serve as guardrails used by all other technology teams in their work to ensure a continuity and shared vision across the various technology teams. Is responsible for the designing and execution of test plans that validate proposed solutions.

  • Communicates Verisign's needs with various vendors to ensure that their products and roadmaps are aligned with those of Verisign. Works closely with members of the technical community to help define best practices and security measures that will ensure the continuity of the Internet as well as protect Verisign assets.

  • Interacts on a regular basis with Network Engineering and Automation to drive to fruition highly technical and complex network solutions and designs. Interacts with key stakeholders to improve the reliability and availability of critical infrastructure products.

  • Documents Technical Architecture Documents, approved vendor and platform lists, and Network Engineering handoffs.

  • 10 or more years of experience in network design & integration, planning in a multi-tiered network (includes data centers & WAN)

  • Experience with public and private cloud

  • 3 or more years of experience leading technology and business critical projects

  • 4 Year Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience - required

  • Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field preferred

As a senior member of the Dolby team, the VP, IP Transactions and Legal Affairs, will lead all IP and commercial transactions in the US and internationally, with particular attention to business model development, scalability, management, regulatory compliance and strategy. This will involve developing a deep understanding of the company's business operations and strategies, technologies, partner ecosystem and supply chain, and distribution models. This will also require a deep, ongoing understanding of the rapidly evolving market landscape. The Vice President, IP Transactions and Legal Affairs is responsible for the day-to-day management of all IP and commercial transaction work of an 18 member department that includes lawyers throughout the world. The VP, IP Transactions and Legal Affairs will partner with Dolby's senior business, technology, legal and corporate marketing leaders to effectively provide counsel and legal services in support of increasingly sophisticated transactions. This position reports to EVP, General Counsel & Secretary. Responsibilities: * Lead Dolby's IP and commercial transactions, including working with technical, business development, marketing, financial, legal and compliance personnel to help define and oversee new business program development. * Counsel the company's business, finance, license compliance, corporate marketing, design and development teams on a wide variety of licensing and local law issues. * Oversee Dolby's licensing program, including engagements with worldwide base of over 800 licensees. * Remain up to date on industry activities, events and best practices among market leaders relative to licensing and commercial transactions. * Provide such other corporate, licensing and intellectual property licensing and transactional support as may be assigned by Dolby executives. * Obtain objectives by successfully leading, managing and developing a team of professionals. * Provide advice and support on IP licensing matters. Requirements: * Executive presence and a leadership style that produces confidence and respect of Dolby executives, business teams, senior technical personnel, and compliance personnel. * Ability to deeply understand, articulate and promote the strategic significance of the company's licensing programs and commercial initiatives relative to Dolby's business strategies and plans. * Ability to serve as change agent within broader organization. * Ability and substantial experience addressing key, high-stakes licensing strategy matters. * Experience in a substantial leadership and management role. * Excellent academic record * JD from a top U.S. law school and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. state. * Technical undergraduate degree is a plus * 15+ years' experience in legal practice dealing with intellectual property matters and/or overseeing an IP protection or license compliance program at scale. * Experience with standards setting organizations is a plus. * Outstanding client service mentality (proactive, immediately responsive; superb interpersonal skills) * A combination of law firm and in-house experience * Excellent presentation skills * Excellent written communication skills * Proven record of building cross-functional relationships and fostering teamwork and collaboration * Strong negotiation skills * Extensive experience developing licensing business models for new technologies and markets. * A leadership style that inspires strong professional performance from direct reports. * Legal experience in Dolby related industries; particularly in intellectual property law (e.g., patent licensing, music, video, mobile communications, content, advertising, etc.). * The ability to travel as necessary, in the US and internationally.
