With minimal supervision, leads teams which design, build and test, workflow/automation and multi-platform orchestration environments and solutions for IT infrastructure and processing. Uses well developed analytical and problem solving skills to de-bug and optimize these platforms and services. Using a broad range of cross platform engineering skills collaborates with 3rd level engineering and Enterprise Architects to build, complex, repeatable IT infrastructure delivery models. Interacts closely with the Infrastructure Automation admins to 'productionalize' and document these processes. Contributes to the overall vision of the automation toolset and standards. Engineers and builds seamless integrations of automated processes into the various enterprise control environments such as uCMDB, monitoring, Change Management, Service Catalog and scheduling. Contributes to the toolset vision for the configuration and automation of all infrastructure build, fix, implementation and maintenance activities in the enterprise.

  • Leads cross functional teams of 3rd level engineers (ex. Operations Engineering, third level Infrastructure Engineering, Monitoring Engineering, DBA, Enterprise Support and Security) to deliver automated solutions which decrease manual work, improve quality and/or improve current automated solutions reducing delivery time to customers.

  • Engineers, builds and tests multi-platform automation, orchestration and workflows based on requirements from various IT partners within the specified catalog of approved automation solutions. Collaborates with 3rd level engineering partners (ex. Operations Engineering, third level Infrastructure Engineering, Monitoring Engineering, DBA, Enterprise Support and Security) and Operations staff to ensure the appropriate delivery criteria and process capability are met. Contributes to the creation of and maintains departmental standards. Leverages version control to ensure consistency within each environment.

  • Contributes to the toolset vision and standards for automation within the IT Operations department. Evaluates and recommends technologies that will be easily maintained and enhanced to get ahead of our rapidly growing development efforts.

  • Builds, delivers and maintains capability to measure utilization, costs, delivery time, accuracy and impact on availability. Analyzes and evaluates metrics, key performance indicators and service level agreements to support the overall process improvement goal of the team. Leverages this analysis to drive continuous improvement of automation services.

  • In conjunction with Operations Engineering, third level Infrastructure Engineering, Monitoring Engineering, DBA, Enterprise Support and Security, prioritizes all opportunities to transform incident mitigation data and root cause analysis into automated, ?self-healing? processes.

  • Drives the downshifting of completed and verified automation solutions into the Operations Center. Ensures that all training, technical and knowledge documentation is accurate and up to date and that the Automation Administrators have a complete working knowledge of the catalog.


  • Associate's Degree in
  • 6 years of experience in Infrastructure administration or process automation role.

Ensures integration of new and existing information and communication systems through overall systems architecture. Balances preferred technical architecture and business requirements to provide effective systems solutions. Resolves complex operational issues and recommends and implements viable alternatives and solutions. Ensures customer satisfaction. Minimum Requirements BS in Computer Science, Business or related degree or equivalent work experience. An additional eight to ten (8-10) years progressively responsible related experience in area/s of assignment is required to obtain an advanced understanding of information and/or communication systems, operating systems, network communications, equipment and infrastructure. Demonstrated leadership skills required. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrated high quality oral, written and presentation communication skills, high quality interpersonal and people management skills, and demonstrated experience in project management. Extensive experience in the development, integration, and support of information and communication systems applications, distributed and mainframe environments, network architecture and sub-systems, distributed and mainframe server architectures cross platform interfaces. Extensive experience in information systems methodologies, systems guidelines & architectures, and technologies. Major Accountabilities Directs the delivery and maintenance of quality information and communication systems solutions to support PNW business processes that follow all I/S guidelines and architectures. Ensures client assistance and 7 day per week/24 hours a day support for operational systems consistent with Service Level Agreements and business processes are optimized. Ensures preferred technical architecture and business requirements are balanced to provide effective information and communication systems solutions, sound architecture, and cross-system integration objectives. Resolves technical issues and recommends and implements viable alternatives and solutions. Ensures departmental costs remain within approved budget. Continually improves department work processes. Develops unit level strategic plans that support corporate and I/S plans. Supports client planning process and prioritization for systems technology implementation. Assigns, directs, facilitates, reviews and approves unit work activities. Ensure effectiveness and productivity of the work unit. Maintains knowledge and understanding of business processes. Manages, negotiates, and meets client's expectations. Implements performance management programs. Spends time with staff on performance focusing. Develops and retains a highly skilled technical team including a supervisory backup. Actively seeks to improve own skills and knowledge to apply to current and emerging business and technical environment. Ensures appropriate staffing levels and that staff has technical skills and business skills to support objectives of the organization. Acts to produce effective teams.
