Job Overview:

The Senior Industrial Engineer (Serial Life Programs) will create, develop, and implement efficient manufacturing systems, reduce costs while maintaining standards of operations. A Senior Industrial Engineer is designated as a strong leader, distinguished amongst peers as being able to lead technically and show strong problem-solving skills. The Senior Industrial Engineer will mentor & lead others within the Industrial Engineering Team. Senior Industrial Engineers effectively lead projects of greater complexity & magnitude with higher risks.

Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers, operations, and other support functions to optimize assembly manufacturing processes and layouts.

  • Identifies and assesses various problems and departures from established assembly standards and best practices; researches and recommends solutions.

  • Designs, redesigns, or enhances work areas and layouts so that awkward or uncomfortable positions, repetitive motions, and inefficient operations are reduced or eliminated.

  • Recommend cost-saving measures.

  • Apply lean manufacturing principles and methods to develop efficient material handling processes for the movement of material throughout manufacturing facilities.

  • Plan for efficient material movement processes and patterns within the plant, which may include movement of material by fork truck, tugger, conveyor, and automatic guided vehicle systems. Material delivery methods may also include sequencing and kitting.

  • Using drafting tools and computer-assisted design software to create the layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency.

  • Maintains and updates MOST analysis studies for all serial life programs.

  • Maintains and updates assembly line standard work instructions (SWI).

  • Assist in the buyoff and runoff of equipment.

Required Skills/Education/Experience:

The ideal candidate will have/possess the following skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering required.

  • At least 5-8 years' experience in assembly and/or manufacturing and demonstrated success as a strong problem solver.

  • Above average PC skills which would include Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.

  • Knowledge of TS 16949 quality system & ILVS production systems.

  • Supervisory experience in the manufacturing field is preferred.

  • Firm understanding of PFMEA principles.

  • Ability to present complex information and convey messages in a manner appropriate for different levels of our internal management and our customers.

  • Familiar with entire life cycle program including development, launch and production.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas in the facility and access all machinery.
