Duties and Responsibilities of a SR Human Resources Generalist: ? HR generalist plays an active role in the recruitment process of the employees ? The HR Generalist will serve as a resource to employees and supervisors for HR and payroll questions but will also connect the employees to UCLA main campus and UCPath central administration for questions regarding their benefits and payroll. General HR support: Incumbent will request, initiate, process and oversee required new hire paperwork, including I-9, Oath and Patent, CANRA compliance completion, FERPA, tuberculosis, background, etc. Assist the Human Resources Manager in managing academic/staff leave including entries into UCPath. Help support general HR procedures where directed on FMLA, Workers Compensation, disability, tracking vacation accruals and accurate reporting, etc. Provide support for academic personnel as needed. Conduct payroll data analysis, support recruitment, personnel administration, scholars, and graduate student teacher assistants. Will coordinate candidate interviews with faculty and staff. The incumbent will participate in teams, committees, events and other group activities and perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the CAO and HR Manager. Support Records Management and Reports: The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining accurate and current personnel information on our system of record and hard copy files. Moreover, the incumbent will run routine personnel reports in UCPath and other HR systems to audit the integrity of data, and report on that data to the Chief Administrative Officer and the HR Manager and Coordinator. Point of contact for Geffen Academy seasonal staff on-boarding and off-boarding process: Post jobs on UCLA boards and help recruit candidates, follow Geffen Academy procedures to on-board staff (issue appointment letters, schedule background checks, TB-tests, orientation appointments and conduct basic orientations, help ensure compliance with UCLA HPRC and CHR procedures and policies) and process the off-boarding of staff. Percentage of Time: 100 Shift Start: 8:00 am Shift End: 5:00 pm Qualifications for Position 15 Records Qualifications Required/Preferred Ability to develop and maintain effective working relations with all levels of staff within Geffen Academy, campus units, and outside vendors. Required Demonstrated skill in analyzing and resolving problems that require both independent thought and action and resourcefulness in consulting others as appropriate. Required Demonstrated organizational skills to work effectively within a complex and rapidly changing environment, to simultaneously manage a wide range of responsibilities, and to perform a variety of duties with frequently changing priorities and deadlines. Required Working at minimum intermediate knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, (including formula and chart development) and database management applications for desktop computers, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint. Required Working knowledge of cost benefit analysis principals and other essential mathematical principals necessary to perform consistent accurate calculations. Required Ability to write clearly, effectively and have high grammatical standards. Required Skill in providing logical, clear analytical reports via Word and spreadsheet technology. Required Knowledge of University policy and procedures are they relate to personnel management, conflict of interest, travel reimbursement, confidentiality of records, entertainment, check requests, purchase orders, and other university personnel payment methods. Preferred Ability to read and interpret contracts and agreements. Required Ability to work responsibly and accurately with detailed information including: financial data and calculations, contract clauses and performance dates, and other numeric and narrative information. Required Must maintain consistent and reliable physical attendance and punctuality.
