What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Work closely with the operations team and provide counsel and guidance regarding policies, procedures and State and Federal regulatory compliance requirements

  • Keep management and operations apprised of internal and external HR developments that may impact overall effectiveness

  • Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure a positive onboarding experience

  • Assist supervisors with performance management, including the delivery of disciplinary action for hourly employees

  • Maintain personnel files and training materials, ensuring documents and manuals are kept current, accurate, confidential and in compliance with company policies and government regulations

  • Communicate, interpret and administer updated HR policies and procedures; ensure fair, equitable and consistent application of all Less-than-Truckload (LTL) policies and procedures

  • Communicate benefits information to employees based on company handbook and policies and procedures

  • Assist with investigating a variety of employee-related issues, incidents and complaints; resolve disputes and recommend appropriate/remedial actions

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • 2 or more years of HR generalist experience in the areas of employee relations and payroll, HR management, benefits administration, and HRIS administration,

  • Experience working in HRIS and time/attendance systems

  • Knowledge of basic business and customer service principles, including planning and organizing, resource management and leadership skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

  • Ability to travel outside the local area up to 50% of the time. Overnight trips on occasion

  • Availability to work an occasional weekend

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or related certification

  • Ability to handle sensitive, moderately complex and confidential information

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience

  • Ability to present and communicate information and ideas in a clear and understandable manner

  • Excellent strategic thinking and planning/facilitation ability; flexibility to function in a fast-paced and innovative environment; ability to dive into the details

  • Ability to select, train, motivate and lead a team of employees to maintain an efficient, customer service-driven operation
