What you'll do on a typical day:
Work closely with the operations team and provide counsel and guidance regarding policies, procedures and State and Federal regulatory compliance requirements
Keep management and operations apprised of internal and external HR developments that may impact overall effectiveness
Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure a positive onboarding experience
Assist supervisors with performance management, including the delivery of disciplinary action for hourly employees
Maintain personnel files and training materials, ensuring documents and manuals are kept current, accurate, confidential and in compliance with company policies and government regulations
Communicate, interpret and administer updated HR policies and procedures; ensure fair, equitable and consistent application of all Less-than-Truckload (LTL) policies and procedures
Communicate benefits information to employees based on company handbook and policies and procedures
Assist with investigating a variety of employee-related issues, incidents and complaints; resolve disputes and recommend appropriate/remedial actions
What you need to succeed at XPO:
At a minimum, you'll need:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or an equivalent combination of education and experience
2 or more years of HR generalist experience in the areas of employee relations and payroll, HR management, benefits administration, and HRIS administration,
Experience working in HRIS and time/attendance systems
Knowledge of basic business and customer service principles, including planning and organizing, resource management and leadership skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Ability to travel outside the local area up to 50% of the time. Overnight trips on occasion
Availability to work an occasional weekend
It'd be great if you also have:
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or related certification
Ability to handle sensitive, moderately complex and confidential information
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience
Ability to present and communicate information and ideas in a clear and understandable manner
Excellent strategic thinking and planning/facilitation ability; flexibility to function in a fast-paced and innovative environment; ability to dive into the details
Ability to select, train, motivate and lead a team of employees to maintain an efficient, customer service-driven operation
