The Senior HR Generalist will be a critical point of contact for Westrock's operations team members. This position will partner with operations and Human Resources leadership to provide professional guidance in the areas of employee relations, talent acquisition, training, and employee development. The Generalist will coordinate and facilitate various Human Resources activities and programs for the operations departments at all locations. This position reports to the VP of Human Resources. This position has no direct reports.

Job Responsibilities Include:

Talent Acquisition:

  • Leads talent acquisition efforts for operations and partners with operations management to recruit, select and onboard new employees.

  • Uses the company's applicant tracking system, ADP's Recruiting Management, to facilitate all talent acquisition efforts and to ensure compliance with all hiring practices, policies and OFCCP regulations.

Employee Relations:

  • Direct interaction with operations employees and management on multiple shifts and at various locations to provide superior Human Resources support.

  • Works with employees and management to help answer questions, resolve concerns and/or investigate employee complaints/allegations.

  • Conducts intake meetings with employees and/or managers to help resolve questions, concerns and/or complaints involving workplace conduct, performance issues, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints.

  • Provides guidance and assistance to employees and management regarding interpretation, compliance, and enforcement of Human Resource policies and procedures, state and federal laws including ADA, FMLA and Workers Compensation.

  • Recommends policy and practice changes in support of continuous improvement.

  • Apprises operations management and employees on the status of issues and concerns being addressed and recommendations or disciplinary actions as appropriate.

  • Deploys various programs to the operations department as deemed necessary by management.

  • Participates in the facilitation of the organization's random drug testing and new hire orientation programs.

  • Conducts exit interviews, compiles data and identifies trends.

  • Communicates information and helps to answer benefit, payroll and timekeeping related questions.

  • May facilitate employee training programs to various levels within the organization.

  • Manages the operations attendance compliance process.

  • Manages the administration of the employee performance management process for all hourly operations team members.

  • Conducts round tables/town halls in support of company's employee engagement initiatives.

Performs other duties as assigned.
