The Role The Senior HR Business Partner is a key position within Discovery Communication's HR Management team providing direct client support to Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).

The position will partner with leadership in providing solutions to employee-related challenges while maintaining a balance between being a strategic business partner and employee champion. This position will continuously review, challenge the status quo and develop initiatives that ensure OWN remains an employer of choice. The position is located in Los Angeles.

Responsibilities
1.Partner with the Human Resources team and clients to execute against the people strategy in line with the business goals.2. Actively contribute to the business strategy; provide HR expertise and challenge to the management team.3. Proactively provide creative and engaging solutions to motivate employees at different career points (i.e. early career, management track).4. Serve as HR advisor, coach and partner to the management team, including coaching leaders in developing organizational and leadership capabilities. 5. Maintain a positive work environment through effective employee relations practices.6. Influence and shape the change agenda, including organization and structural changes; identify obstacles and develop strategies to overcome them.7. Develop strong working relationships and work closely with all HR specialist functions to provide 'seamless' HR support and guidance to the business.8. Lead and develop HR projects across the business.9. Contribute as a team member on broader HR projects across the business.10. Proactively review on an ongoing basis all HR policies and processes; with a view to improve efficiency and effectiveness within legal framework.11. Continually strive to provide 'best practice' HR advice and support, through information sharing internally and external benchmarking.

Requirements

  • PHR qualified or equivalent

  • At least 10 years HR business partner experience in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong influencer with ability to coach and counsel employees and senior executives

  • Confident, effective leader with a track record of success

  • Approachable and capable of working with people at all levels

  • Able to create a strategy and motivate others to achieve necessary deliverables

  • Must have the legal right to work in the United States

The Role: The Senior HR Business Partner will support the California Divisional Director by delivering strategic HR leadership and driving the human capital agenda and priorities for the Consumer Banking & Chase Wealth Management field employees within the California Division. Additionally, s/he will be involved in cross-functional projects impacting the Consumer Bank, playing a key role on the larger HR team to drive initiatives nationally. The role is focused on the following people strategy responsibilities: * Diversity and inclusion strategy & planning, performance assessment and improvement * Talent management & development, workforce planning/ attrition, compensation, change management, productivity improvements, organizational design and structure * Employee experience, or as we like to call it, Employee Obsession * Escalations as it relates to employee relations, HR policy, and other HR matters Key responsibilities: * Partner closely with the Divisional Director and Divisional team on people agenda and priorities * Drive projects and assignments that would be leveraged across the CB & CWM HR team. * Work closely with HRBP colleagues and management team to identify the current and future needs of the business and develop/lead HR strategies, priorities, plans and interventions to ensure successful results. * Partner with Talent Acquisition on workforce planning & headcount management, proactive recruitment strategies and diverse sourcing pipelines, as well as workforce redeployment. * Collaborate with the Learning & Development organization to develop a diverse blend of leaders, managers and employees for the future of the business. * Partner with Compensation to develop and deploy compensation strategies/plans to attract and reward employees based on business and employee performance. * Stay abreast of business and workplace trends. Analyze people processes, information and trends to make recommendations to leaders of the business for continuous improvement. Ensure appropriate controls are in place and managed effectively for all critical HR processes. * Keep a finger on the pulse of employee feedback/perceptions and ensure that the workplace is one where employees experience a high level of satisfaction & pride. * Create / run reports and analyze data to be used by HR and management team and measure key people metrics, aligned with business goals to drive progress * Provide advice and counsel to senior level managers on issues related to performance of their people and their teams. Qualifications * 10+ years HR experience and strong people/team leadership skills (some HR Financial Services experience preferred) * Bachelors Degree required, advanced degree strongly desired * Proven track record in managing projects and long-term initiatives that have resulted in favorable business results * Strong consulting, influencing and negotiation skills on all HR disciplines including recruitment, talent, leadership development, performance management, organization design, compensation and diversity * Ability to lead large scale projects and manage through a change heavy organization * Ability to link HR Strategy to Business Goals * Able to quickly size up a complex people/business situation, sort through the facts, develop alternatives and make sound recommendations.
