General Purpose:

The main responsibilities of this role is accounting/reporting responsibility for U.S. and European entities; compliance reporting including unclaimed property reporting, 1099, etc; Assist with quarter end/year end audit, and state audits.

Position Summary, Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts

  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations

  • Assist internal financial reporting and assure compliance with internal controls

  • Analyzes financial statements, and investigates and reports on variances

  • Assists with the maintenance and integrity of data and information within the General Ledger

  • Work with external auditors and facilitate review of the close process, account reconciliations and variance analyses

  • Interacts with other departments providing information, as appropriate

  • Manage and prioritize job tasks to meet strict deadlines for various financial deadlines

  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures

  • Ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting

  • Ad hoc projects as needed

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience

  • Solid understanding of accounting processes and procedures

  • Experience working with a fast-paced, start-up company or similar

  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations

  • Ability to work efficiently independently as well as part of a team

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines

  • Problem solving and strong analytical ability

  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines

  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

  • Proficiency with Oracle, a plus

Responsibilities: * Complete monthly close activities related to manufacturing costs, Labor & Overhead absorption, Work in Process inventory, freight and duties. Ensure timeliness and accuracy of close procedures. * Ensure process integrity within Manufacturing, Intercompany, and Inventory while working with cross-functional peers to resolve process issues. Drive process improvements and system automation. * Maintain phenomenal relationships with Business Partners and Accounting peers to address information reporting needs. Prepare Accounting schedules routinely and as requested for internal and external reporting requirements. * Partner with Finance team to ensure Bill of Material accuracy including knowledge of cost reduction impact on financial. * Perform variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances. * Support Inventory to Cost process improvements and cost analytical for new Shanghai plant. * Partner with Supply Chain, Operations and New Product Introduction teams to resolve Bill of Materials, subcontract and Work Order Variance issues. * Assist Operations in implementing, maintaining and monitoring proper inventory controls and cycle count procedures. * Document controls, processes and procedures related to manufacturing accounting and ensure SOX 404 compliance * Collaborate cross functionally on projects that impact Inventory and Cost of Goods Sold * Assist with and ensure successful quarterly and year end audits Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in accounting or related area (or equivalent) * Minimum 5 year experience in Accounting preferably in a large manufacturing environment with evidence of exceptional ability * Ability to understand the manufacturing environment and the associated financial processes; Knowledge of supply chain, receiving, inventory flow, operations process and manufacturing principles * Ability to effectively analyze transactional level detail in an enterprise resource planning system and articulate the key findings to management * Strong business skills and effective understanding of financial, distribution and manufacturing systems * Ability to multi-task and drive actions to completion under strict deadlines. * Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills. * Must be able to collaborate and build positive relationships with other teams within Finance as well as cross-functionally outside Finance to effectively make recommendations, implement process improvements, etc. * Excellent Excel skills and the ability to manipulate and analyze large amounts of data * Action-oriented and solution-driven with the ability to thrive in a fast pace environment * Analytically solid with the desire and competency to come up with out-of-the-box ideas to resolve complex manufacturing Accounting challenges * Strong self-starter and leader who can articulate effectively to management and peers to bring about effective change Tesla Motors Fremont CA
