Sr. Fuel Cell System Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW

Hyzon Motors is searching for a Sr Fuel Cell System Engineer that will be based in Troy, Michigan, as part of the team developing fuel cell systems for commercial vehicles. The successful candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, and be responsible for leading the design, development, and testing of fuel cell systems and BOPs (balance of plant), also serving as main contact in addressing various issues related to fuel cell system through issue tracking, definition, communication, and collaboration between internal and external teams. This individual will play a critical role in advancing our fuel cell technology and driving the adoption of clean energy solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead in addressing various issues (i.e. from manufacturing, lab and vehicle testing, prototyping) related to fuel cell system design through issue tracking, definition, communication, and collaboration between internal and external teams.

• DVP&R for fuel cell system development: conduct detailed analyses to ensure compatibility with system requirements and environmental conditions.

• Collaborate with the engineering team to design and select appropriate BOP (balance of plant) for fuel cell systems.

• Conduct regular inspections and tests to verify compliance with engineering specifications.

• Create detailed technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and test reports, to support the integration of fuel cell systems.

• Troubleshoot fuel cell system and components in labs and vehicles.

• Lead projects, provide technical guidance, and stay abreast of emerging technologies in fuel cell technology and BOP systems.

• Stay up-to-date with advances in fuel cell technology and industry trends, and provide recommendations for new product development and technology roadmaps.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors or Master of Mechanical, Material Science, Automotive, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

• Strong knowledge of in the selection, design, and integration of BOP preferably in the context of fuel cell systems.

• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.

• Self-motivated, willing to collaboratively work for challenges.

• Occasional travel.
