Amazon is seeking a Senior Finance Manager to join the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Sales and Marketing (SMS) Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) group. The FP&A team is responsible for managing financial rhythms of the business, including the annual operating plan, long range plan, regular forecast process, and for providing analytical support to senior management. The role operates in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, and influences the decisions of senior business leaders both within AWS and across the broader Amazon through effective verbal and written communication, logical reasoning, and the presentation of alternatives. The successful candidate must be able to think and act both strategically and tactically.
Primary responsibilities include:
Lead a team of analysts and manage the month-end close process, monthly forecasting, and operating plan cycles
Coordinate across both business teams and FP&A teams to support reporting requirements and drive cross functional alignment
Build review packages, forecast models, and handle day-to-day activities related to forecasting/planning.
Help streamline planning/reporting, as well as identify improvement and prioritization opportunities within these business areas
Manage business partner support including planning and tracking Headcount and Operating Expenditure spend.
Be a thought leader to improve and simplify processes, drive standardization, and build scalable systems to support business growth.
Providing leadership, guidance and implementation on driving process improvement
Possess the passion and demonstrated skills for developing relationships, processes and continuous improvement
Act as a key finance member on a cross-functional and highly technical team
BA/BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, and Computer Science) or equivalent and a minimum 10 years of finance experience, or master's degree and 8 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Exceptional analytic skills and a demonstrated ability to build financial models for business forecasting, variance analysis, and problem solving
Experience performing financial and ad hoc analyses using advanced Excel functionality and providing recommendations based on results to senior management for strategic decision-making.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously and drive projects to completion
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
SQL, Cognos/TM1 and FP&A skills a plus
