The Senior Maintenance Manager I (Sr. MM) supports the operations and personnel for approximately 2500+ equivalent truck units, comprised of one or more locations. May have direct responsibility for Senior Service Managers I/II, Service Managers I/II, and/or Shift Supervisors. This position ensures that key FMS maintenance objectives, plans and strategies are effectively communicated, implemented and met within their respective location(s) within the business unit, which is inclusive of all maintenance and quality processes and financial measures. This position ensures that key FMS maintenance objectives, plans and strategies are effectively communicated, implemented and met within their respective location(s) and business unit, which is inclusive of all maintenance and quality processes and financial measures. This position is critical as a liaison with customers, supporting the sales process and assisting in customer problem resolution in regards to maintenance services. The position also participates in the growth of the branches/business unit through increased customer retention, expansion and new sales. The position ensures that all locations within the assigned branches/business unit under his/her control comply with company policies and are operating within Federal, State, Provincial, and Local laws. Additionally, this position will require the individual to collaborate with all functional groups to meet operational excellence standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Business or Engineering preferred) preferred or 8+ years maintenance and leadership experience

Responsibilities

  • Customer Management Provides maintenance leadership, support, guidance and direction for Sales Personnel for given locations or Business Unit

  • Ensures that agreed upon customer requirements are achieved and that satisfaction objectives are met; works with customers to resolve issues

  • Directly responsible for customer relationship management to include issue resolution, customer satisfaction and retention, as well as ensuring uptime

  • Safety/Environmental Management Ensure that all maintenance personnel adheres to Ryder Safety policies, procedures and standards

  • Ensure that all Ryder locations meet all safety standards and specifications

  • Ensure all locations operate in compliance with Federal, State, Provincial, and Local environmental regulations

  • Labor Management Evaluate, coach and develop maintenance management within assigned locations or Business Unit

  • Ensure that maintenance productivity standards are met within assigned locations or Business Unit

  • Quality/Compliance Management Supports, communicates, implements and measures performance against all corporate initiatives

  • Accountable for quality assurance standards across his/her business unit or branches and responsible for implementing solutions and/or actions to resolve any identified deficiencies

  • Supports, communicates and ensures compliance with all Federal, State, Provincial, and Local regulations

  • Supports, communicates and ensures compliance with all corporately mandated policies, procedures and processes

  • Fleet Asset Management Supports Director of Operations in all aspects of maintenance and maintenance management as the technical expert for given locations or Business Unit

  • Supports Asset Manager and Sales in maximizing asset utilization through managing downtime and outservice of vehicles

  • Accountable for key maintenance measurements and results across his/her business unit or branches

  • Accountable for all maintenance related assets across his/her business unit or branches

  • Financial Management Measure, track and perform on-going analysis to ensure process and financial objectives are met

  • Accountable for all maintenance-related costs and controls across his/her business unit or branches

  • Decision Making This position has the responsibility to analyze situations quickly and make decision for their assigned span of control based on corporate policies and procedures and communicate those decisions effectively within the organization as needed

  • Financial Impact Responsible for 2500+ Truck Equivalencies in one or more locations within a geographic area of a business unit

  • Ensures that key FMS maintenance objectives, plans and strategies are effectively communicated, implemented and met within their respective location(s) within the business unit, which is inclusive of all maintenance and quality processes and financial measures

  • Ensures that key FMS maintenance objectives, plans and strategies are effectively communicated, implemented and met within their respective location(s) and business unit, which is inclusive of all maintenance and quality processes and financial measures

  • The primary duties of these positions are to manage all aspects of maintenance, properly maintain all Ryder assets and meet both process and financial objectives

  • Safety Sensitive or DOT Regulated This position is responsible for all the safety related operations within their span of control to ensure all requirements related to OSHA, DOT and DOT Regulated Employees are administered properly

  • Personal Protection Equipment PPE required as per task

  • Travel Requirements Percentage of travel time required could be 10% - 75%

  • It varies depending on geographic responsibility Mileage of 12,000 - 50,000 is possible

POSITION SUMMARY This is an Operations position responsible for managing the activities associated with maintaining the fleet maintenance department and facility MHE. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to; managing the company shop and shop personnel for the maintenance, diagnosis and repair of the Sysco fleet and MHE (including service vehicles, pallet jacks, batteries, forklifts), ensuring safety and security of the shop and fleet, and providing management and direction to shop staff. The position is also responsible for administrative duties including parts procurement, inventory management, asset tracking and cost control through maintenance systems. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages the daily work and safety of associates engaged in fleet maintenance and repair. Oversee the repair and preventative maintenance of power equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, electric walking jacks, batteries and chargers in a timely and efficient manner Manages labor hours and consumable supplies within budget. Monitors work schedules including extra work days and shifts as needed. Manages the proper selection, purchase and utilization of Company assets in support of the fleet maintenance department. Coordinates required processes and repairs with proper departments as necessary. Ensures the proper scheduling of truck and MHE maintenance and repairs; along with compliance of all Company programs, including preventative maintenance and inspection of vehicles, non-scheduled maintenance and trouble shooting, repair, rebuild and overhaul of vehicles or equipment. Reviews fleet maintenance functions and various operational and expense reporting. Suggests efficiency ideas, cost reduction measures and assists with the implementation of changes within fleet maintenance. Conducts audits daily to ensure all required documentation is accurately completed (including all work orders, breakdowns, preventative maintenance logs, pre/post trip inspections, certifications) and that items are installed correctly with a minimum potential for loss. Manages parts inventory and issues required purchase orders based on anticipated needs. Develops a fleet and MHE services budget to include a review of past year income and expenses; adjusts and administers all service purchases including parts, tools and office supplies. Oversees budgets and contracts between third party vendor services to ensure efficient operations. Ensures proper licensing of fleet vehicles and annual vehicle/trailer inspections. Stays current with technical manuals, literature and technical advancements of the trade as it pertains to company owned vehicles. Maintains associate relations through regular department or pre-shift meetings; maintains on-going interaction; keeps open communication channels with associates by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures; monitors associate morale; submits and responds to ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement. Interprets trains and consistently enforces Company policies and procedures. Coordinates efforts with Safety department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, up-dating preferred work methods, conducting accident investigations to determine root causes, and routine safety inspections. Makes recommendations for disciplinary action and/or behavior modification where required. Performs management functions of staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews and/or terminations. Performs the duties of associates supervised and other related duties as needed. Ensures accurate and up-dated re-certifications of commercial equipment and CVOR (Canada) are compliant. Ensures compliance with all Company and safety rules, policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, DOT, and EFC). Assist with third party audit preparation REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three to five years maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of education and related experience. General mechanical knowledge and experience preferred CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid state Driver’s License meeting Company standards.
