About the role

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Financial Analyst is an integral part of the Financial Planning & Analysis team, which is responsible for financial planning, forecasting, trend analysis, and ad hoc analytical projects. This position is responsible for reviewing and reporting financial results, along with projections of where the enterprise is going financially and operationally, and make recommendations that will improve outcomes. A high level of analytical capability and solid understanding of financial concepts is required, enabling the Senior Financial Analyst to take initiative and function independently on a variety of both recurring and ad hoc financial and operational projects.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Create monthly financial results and annual budget presentations to management and owners by assembling and summarizing data, identifying trends, and communicating analyses and recommendations with a level of detail appropriate to the audience.

  • Analyze financial results by identifying drivers and variances from prior year, budget and forecast, and articulate recommendations that will improve future results.

  • Define key performance indicators, analyze and interpret financial and operational performance, and forecast performance related to strategic initiatives.

  • Develop and update models that provide insights into past and future financial and operating performance, capital investments, company growth, and expense management.

  • Build and update the short and long-term business plan according to strategic direction provided by the company's senior leaders.

  • Increase productivity by developing automated applications, eliminating redundant work, and coordinating information requirements across projects and processes.

  • Coordinate projects with other departments and devise solutions that facilitate the operating needs of all groups involved.

Job Requirements:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)

  • Willingness to take initiative and provide recommendations that improve processes and results

  • Understanding of financial systems (Oracle, SAP, or equivalent)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that facilitate effective communication with internal customers, departments and other employees

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload

  • Work within the appropriate level of independence

  • Function in a fast-paced environment

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Education BS in Finance or equivalent; MBA is an asset

  • Experience 5 to 7 years of experience in financial analysis functions/roles with documented analytical & results-oriented capabilities

  • Skills:

  • Expert Excel skills and proficient in PowerPoint

  • High degree of intellectual curiosity, initiative, and a background of continuous improvement.

  • Team player who will think strategically and effectively in all situations.

  • Ability to clearly communicate results of analysis and provide recommendations to business leaders at all levels, considering impacts to all parts of the organization.

  • Must be able to create positive work relationships within the team and with other departments.

  • Sound decision-making and judgment, taking initiative to move projects to move forward with minimal oversight.

The Senior Business Analyst will collaborate with stakeholders to drive the Customer to Cash vision and strategy across multiple business units. The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for the creation of business requirements, agile user stories, and process maps for a variety of projects. This role will work cross-functionally with key business stakeholders, process owners testing roles, technology, and operational SMEs. Vision & Strategy: * Be passionate about process improvement and improving customer experience * Be able to proactively identify and drive opportunities for process changes to increase efficiency, automation, and customer satisfaction * Be able to thrive in an agile work environment Responsibilities: * Partners with stakeholders to elicit and document business needs for a variety of different projects including large scale business transformation projects and process automation * Participates on agile project teams to help ensure customer and business needs are kept in mind throughout project delivery * Serves as a project manager on certain projects as required * Collaborates across functions to design solutions and implement changes to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of our order management processes. * Collaborates with Process Owners to identify opportunities to optimize legacy processes and identify leading practices (process, and/or technology) that can strengthen service delivery * Drives change management to support process improvement * Challenges the status quo and drives TR towards simplification while always designing for the best customer experience * Partners with testing team to help educate/inform testers on the process and business needs to accurately create and execute testing. * Partners with L&D team on learning plan, materials and transfer of knowledge for implementations * Mentors and trains less experienced team members and assists with enforcing team best practices and governance Requirements: * 3+ years experience with Customer to Cash processes – Experience with Order Management, Billing and Payments is preferred * Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Solid English language skills are required. * Demonstrated experience in business analysis, process mapping, and requirement elicitation * Demonstrated experience eliciting stakeholder needs and translating them into agile user stories or business requirements * Demonstrated experience leading meetings and driving projects forward * Experience building and managing effective relationships and partnering with others to develop joint solutions. * Ability to leverage a variety of approaches to solicit valuable information, even in challenging situations * Demonstrated experience identifying and participating in performance or process improvement initiatives * Experience working with different cultures and global partners. * Able to effectively navigate and perform in dynamic environments managing multiple projects simultaneously. * Experience with Agile Methodologies is preferred * Experience with Business Optix process mapping software or equivalent is preferred Having the following experience is a plus: * IIBA CBAP (International Institute of Business Analysis, Certified Business Analyst Professional) certification * Lean or Six Sigma certification At Thomson Reuters, we believe what we do matters.
