Job Overview
The Senior Financial Analyst North America will assist and lead in the consolidation of Construction, Mining, Forestry and Forklift financial plans, analysis and monthly reporting of results. This position plays a key role in our financial planning and analysis teams supporting both business stakeholders and our executive leadership teams. The Senior Financial Analyst will also play a key role in driving process improvement initiatives, and other projects within Komatsu North America (KNA).
Key Job Responsibilities
Monthly Close and Reporting: Support, lead and perform the monthly review and analysis of the Komatsu North America financials. Analysis will include sales, margins, expenses, invested capital, capital expenditures, and headcount. Follow-up with business unit and operational stakeholders as needed to investigate key drivers.
Complete the preparation of a monthly financial reporting package that provides a consistent, accurate report of operating results. Search out and implement financial reporting best practices.
Complete, review and provide written commentary on month end results provided to leadership.
Serve as the business partner for corporate cost centers which includes partnering in their business plan development, providing monthly reporting and insight findings to respective business leaders.
Assist in any additional request from the North America finance and accounting team. This includes submission of financials and support schedules for the consolidated financials and timely completion of budget and outlook schedules.
Financial Forecasts & Budgets: Review and prepare the consolidation of financial plans on a quarterly and annual basis including Units, P&L, and Balance Sheet. Review unit, sales, and margin details for accuracy. Compare outlooks with prior actual results and plans to understand and articulate the key drivers of significant changes. Challenge inaccurate or unreasonable items.
Assist in communicating the financial planning cycle requirements, assumptions, templates, and due dates to KNA locations (primarily KAC locations to begin), operations, and cost center managers. Provide support, training, etc. to effectively manage change in templates or process.
Support the financial planning cycle by managing the preparation and design of templates that will be used to gather relevant data from KNA locations (primarily KAC locations to begin), operations, and cost center managers.
Compile the monthly and quarterly capital approval and spend reports and the consolidation of annual 3-Year Capital Expenditure (Capex) plan.
Compile and analyze the headcount budget submission from business units, ensuring completeness and accuracy, headcount justification.
Assist in the preparation of presentation slides for consolidated KNA reviews (primarily KAC) and Management Committee meetings.
Initiative/Project Work: Perform ad hoc requests and analysis required to achieve company goals and increase overall company profitability. This includes projects such as implementation of new planning or ERP software, development of reporting for new business units, creation of new reports to add value and build efficiencies for the team.
Analysis and Reporting: Complete, review and compile the consolidated financials statements for Komatsu North America wholesale business providing analysis on the P&L and balance sheet. Leverage tools and develop of reporting through SAP BPC, Power BI, and Excel tools.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
3-5 years of accounting, analysis, and/or finance experience.
Emphasis on strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving, technical, organizational, verbal and written communications, leadership and management skills.
Ability to work with customers, motivate employees and work with internal departments to achieve desired results. Emphasis on indirect influence and building relationships.
Subject matter expert level & expertise in information systems deployment, utilization, and capabilities for-and-of enterprise systems management. Strong knowledge of BPC, BI, SAP (COPA data, KE24). Ability to work with Sequel databases a plus. Ability to use Microsoft Office software products. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
