JOB TITLE: Sr. Financial Analyst II
This role will primarily be responsible for reporting, forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis for the global R&D, global Finance, and various OGA functions. R&D responsibilities include Project expense tracking, data validation and entry in the Project Cube and Project based reporting. Works very closely with Senior management and Finance teams in these areas to complete month-end close, develop department level annual plans and update subsequent forecasts while striving to meet the strategic objectives of the business. This position will provide financial analysis that will help guide business and strategic decisions of the Senior Leaders.
The successful candidate will help drive CooperVision business by providing financial stewardship and analytical insights into key financial and operational metrics. They will strategically partner with business leaders and assist in evaluating global operational spend, support the planning/forecast process and make recommendations to improve operating efficiencies. Must excel in creating strong business partnerships, possess strong analytical skills and be able to seamlessly multitask and maintain a focus on details without losing sight of the big picture.
Establish solid business partnerships with various teams in the R&D, Finance and OGA (Legal, CEO Office, Facilities and Other G&A) across multiple regions.
Lead Project Based Reporting for R&D organization, including Headcount allocation to projects and Project tracking. Develop processes that contribute to efficiency and data accuracy and lead Capex reporting for the R&D organization.
Perform month end close functions, including necessary accruals, expense tracking, department OPEX and variance explanation submission, and accounting postings review.
Build out comprehensive worldwide reporting and analytics for Global Finance, Global Legal and Global R&D organizations to effectively communicate relevant information.
Drive month-end variance reporting by analyzing and synthesizing plans and results across multiple departments to identify and explain business drivers at the functional level.
Build and update quarterly high-level forecast, quarterly system forecasts and annual budget.
Consult with business leaders to drive and influence strategic decision-making by providing financial guidance.
Proactively develop ideas for process improvements, make recommendations, drive and implement efficiencies that have positive impact on the business and company.
Influence the accuracy and effectiveness of the actual reporting and the forecast/budget processes.
Develop in-depth knowledge of business partners' areas of focus and critical issues to provide value-add insight and guidance.
Provide support with ad-hoc financial analysis, ad-hoc reporting and preparation of presentations to Senior Management.
Become a subject matter expert within each area of assigned responsibility.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Expert-level OPEX reporting skills.
Previous knowledge and exposure to Project-based Reporting and Tracking within R&D organization preferred.
Highly detail-oriented and organized.
Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high intellectual curiosity and ability to independently research, analyze and interpret data.
Proficient in financial budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, financial analysis and financial modeling.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and ability to build long-lasting business partnerships.
Passion for business process improvements, automation and innovation.
A proactive self-teacher and a quick learner able to grasp challenging concepts, able to multi-task and prioritize in a changing environment while still complying with strict deadlines.
High level of proficiency in Excel, being able to apply advanced Excel formulas. Excel VBA knowledge a plus. Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Business Intelligence systems and Hyperion.
Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
5-7 years' experience in FP&A role is required.
Exposure managing R&D department is preferred.
