Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sr. Financial Analyst.

In this role, the successful candidate as the Sr. Financial Analyst supports the Manager - Finance in managing and analyzing the financial operations of the Perlmutter Cancer Center (PCC) by monitoring standard activities in accordance with PCC's internal controls and financial SOPs.

The Sr. Financial Analyst offers analytical support by collecting and interpreting relevant financial data, maintaining tools and databases, and generating standard financial actions and reports across philanthropic, grants, and operating accounts to produce accurate and timely financial information for stakeholders, to aid in decision making.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops and maintains tools and databases to accurately capture and interpret financial data.

  • Generates standard financial reports; interprets reports and alerts PCC and Finance leadership to potential issues.

  • Provides financial support to Faculty, Director, Principal Investigators, and program leaders as necessary; prepares salary reallocations, cost transfers, and monthly Journal Vouchers (JVs) and tracks to ensure they are booked timely and accurately.

  • Assists in development and implementation of internal controls and financial SOPs for PCC. Reviews assigned department financial transactions for compliance to institutional, department, and sponsor guidelines.

  • Reviews Accounts Payable documents and Personnel changes against the budget and actual spending, and alerts the Manager to potential issues.

  • Performs day to day aspects pertaining to the finances of assigned clinical trials, including but not limited to reconciliation of study accounts, validation of all claim details to confirm accuracy and compliance to approved budgets, creation of invoices to sponsors, and follow up with sponsors for open Accounts Receivables.

  • Assists in the development of Centers annual operating and capital budgets for all accounts.

  • Identifies and investigates financial errors and makes inquiries with central Finance and General Accounting to determine cause of problem; proposes appropriate solutions to resolve the issue timely and accurately.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in Business or Finance related field

3+ years in financial operations (preferably healthcare, non-profit, or public sector)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and principles of Financial Management, knowledge of Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years in financial operations or financial planning & analysis (preferably healthcare, non-profit, or public sector)

Knowledge of pre- and post- award grants management and clinical trials finance.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $67,771.14 - $109,200.00 Annually.

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
