Primary Purpose

Responsible for the administration of financial policies, plans, and accounting practices for the Foundation. Maintains fiscal records, assists with budget preparation as well as the presentation and analysis of financial reports.

Minimum Specifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, or Finance required.

Experience

  • Six (6) years of experience in finance management required.

  • Three (3) years of experience working in a not-for-profit environment.

  • Experience working with major financial application software preferred.

  • Experience with fund accounting and FENXT preferred.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

  • Seven (7) years of experience working for a foundation in a comparable position may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively and professionally across disciplines. Ability to communicate complex information in understandable terms.

  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across and beyond the organization.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple demands and respond to rapidly changing priorities.

  • Ability to write clearly and succinctly with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Advanced computer skills, including spreadsheet, database management, and word processing software, and Microsoft Office skills. Ability to learn new software programs.

  • Working knowledge of accounting.

  • Advanced data mining skills along with the ability to draw conclusions and identify action items.

  • Self-starter and results driven.

Responsibilities

Financial Analysis, Auditing, and Reporting

  • Serves as a resource person for standard financial reporting and financial analysis to ensure compliance with PHS and Foundation fiscal policies and directives.

  • Responsible for assuring the timely maintenance and distribution of fund accounting and statistical reports to PHS and Foundation Leadership.

  • Performs analysis and participates in special projects, such as responding to specific requests for ad hoc reports to provide technical and accounting expertise.

  • Reviews various reports and general ledger transactions of ISFP Holdings, LLC.

  • Serves as FENXT lead resource person and acts as liaison between, Blackbaud IT, PHS IT and will interact with Internal Audit on system issues as needed.

  • Responsible for completion and presentation of monthly Finance/Operations Project status report to Foundation Leadership Team.

  • Conduct surface title research using online resources such as county public records indexes, county tax offices, and other title plants.

  • Perform cursory title searches to fill in gaps or locate specific documents within the land records.

  • Responsible for new project creation upon review of required documentation.

Budgeting and Foundation Funds Management

  • Assists with the preparation of the foundation's annual capital and operating budgets; prepares and reviews funds reports to support fiscal budget process.

  • Supports Foundation Operation's team with analysis to validate fund balances as requested.

  • Work with PHS Financial Operation's Analysts on hospital reimbursements based on donor's intent and conditions.

  • Work with Foundation Accountants to ensure timely and accurate coding, accruing and processing of restricted funds request for payments (RFPs).

  • Provide data to leadership to support cash projections and treasury management.

  • Serve as the project manager on subset of restricted funds and/or subset of State solicitation registration and annual renewals as requested.

Contractual and Regulatory Requirements

  • Ensures work is carried out in compliance with regulatory and/or accreditation standards as well as contractual requirements.

  • Interprets and monitors contractual arrangements and grants for conditional language to ensure compliance of donor Intent.

  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the finance and accounting areas.

  • Review and analyze various land contracts, including but not limited to rights of way, deeds, surface site leases, and assignments.

Job Accountabilities

  • Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.

  • Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.

  • Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
