VIEW JOBS 12/5/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-03-05T00:00 Overview If change means solving one of the biggest challenges of our time by reinventing the way people power their homes, then we say bring it on. It doesn't hurt that we're reducing carbon emissions, adding new jobs to the economy, and having fun while doing it. In 2007, Sunrun co-Founders Ed Fenster and Lynn Jurich set out to make home solar mainstream. Upfront cost was a huge barrier to home solar adoption, so they invented the model now known as "Solar as a Service." Sunrun allows homeowners to pay for solar power, not the panels. This means Sunrun owns, maintains, and monitors the system while homeowners pay for the electricity it produces. Each business day, we install $2 million worth of solar and facilitate one solar installation every 10 minutes. Our network of more than 30 leading solar installers employs more than 3,000 people. The Strategic Finance & Analytics team is responsible for improving strategic and financial decision-making across Sunrun. We serve as a trusted adviser to the business to help inform and guide decision making through business partner support and insightful analyses. We are looking for bright, goal-oriented individuals who will succeed in a fast-paced environment and thrive in building and improving processes that will allow the company to scale with growth. The SF&A team believes in scaling via software (we use Anaplan), not headcount. We have built a planning system and process where every function in the organization plans together in real-time on a monthly basis, so there is less time spent exporting data & more emphasis on focusing on what matters. This leads to more opportunities for each member of the team at a company that generates >$1B in proceeds and has >180K customers that is fundamentally changing the energy landscape. The opportunity in this role is to play a lead role in SF&A's core planning processes along with the synthesis of the story for our CFO and COO. You will be the source of truth for corporate finance reporting and condense what several finance business partners will provide to you as their individual stories into one punchy output for our leadership, driving insight and focus towards the areas needed going forward. This is the perfect entry point into Sunrun for those with Investment Banking, Consulting, or FP&A experience outside of Solar, as you see everything from the 30,000 ft. view and learn quickly what are the most important levers in the business. Additionally, this role will keep everyone on our team on track during the monthly and quarterly planning calendar, ensuring we submit and close off items when expected, all while proactively communicating any areas of risk or opportunity. Lastly, this role will also drive reporting best practices via newer tools such as PowerPivot, Looker, and our core planning system, Anaplan. This position will provide a broad view into a multi-faceted company that typically would require experience at multiple companies (for example, we sell through door to door, field, inside, and channel, while also installing through our crews, build partners, and the channel. Many companies have one or two go-to-market or fulfillment motions), while also providing exposure to executives typically not found at companies of this scale. Responsibilities * Drive core planning processes including monthly, quarterly and long-range forecasting of full corporate consolidated financials based upon inputs provided by the FP&A team members who own the departmental P&Ls and senior management * Understand & derive insights from consolidated financials, crafting compelling analyses and reports and communicating insights to senior management and other stakeholders as basis for key decisions * Lead the SF&A side of the monthly corporate close process with Accounting group, analyzing monthly flux and reviewing bookings for any reclassifications * Develop & own the Executive metrics dashboard and internal financial reporting tools * Consolidate monthly actual reporting with in-depth analysis of revenues and expenses across business units which became the platform for senior management decisions * Prepare regular Board of Directors presentations/updates and reports for the CEO, CFO and C-Suite staff and other internal and external key stakeholders * Supervise and direct analytical, modeling and financial support for corporate-level activity as needed Qualifications As this is a highly cross-functional role, candidates are required to be highly analytical and very effective communicators. The candidate should be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, highly team-oriented, inquisitive, enjoy problem solving and focused on driving towards results. * Bachelor's degree from top-tier university in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics * Must have prior work experience in Finance (FP&A + Investment Banking, FP&A + Consulting, FP&A + Big4) * Excellent presentation and communication skills * Comfortable with fast-paced, demanding environment. * Experience with Anaplan HIGHLY preferred, not required. Experience w/ TM1, Hyperion Essbase, PowerBI, and Looker also a plus. DISCLAIMER This description indicates the general nature and level of the qualifications and duties required of employees in this job classification, as well as the essential functions a person must be able to perform to do this job. It is not designed to be a comprehensive inventory of all duties and qualifications required of employees assigned to this job. Sunrun Inc. and its subsidiaries are equal opportunity employers and make employment decisions on the basis of merit and business need.
