Position Purpose & Summary
The Commodity FRM Senior Analyst is responsible for position reporting and trading profitability analysis for the North America Protein business. This role identifies, captures and reports on commodity, foreign exposure, and counterparty risks and manages the daily and monthly mark-to-market P&L reporting processes. This position is responsible for ensuring that commodity risks are accurately presented in the financial statements.
This role is part of the Financial Risk Management domain within Cargill Protein. The Senior Risk Analyst role is a challenging opportunity to apply the complexities of commodity risk finance utilizing strong problem solving and communication skills and a focus on supporting our ERP Initiatives and ad hoc projects. The candidate will have the opportunity to partner with senior risk management leaders to support key initiatives and drive process efficiencies. This is a great next step for an ambitious finance professional. This role requires an enthusiastic hands-on and can-do individual who has solid accounting and/or finance background, enjoys making improvements (large and small), and is able to effectively partner with and influence senior leaders. 60% Ensure Accurate and Timely Risk and Trading P&L Reporting
Prepare and distribute accurate and timely position reports for commodity, foreign exchange, and counterparty risks to the multiple stakeholders including trading, commercial, business leadership, Cargill Risk Committee, and external regulators such as the CFTC.
Monitor compliance with position limits, communicate breaches, and follow up on corrective action.
Partner with trading and commercial leads to identify risk exposures and ensure compliance with corporate commodity risk reporting policies.
Calculate a daily and monthly mark-to-market P&L, validating market prices used for valuations and ensuring that commodity risks are accurately presented in financial statements.
Reconcile futures and options activities, including broker reconciliations and confirmation of fees, commissions and margining.
Lead the setup of new trading strategies and develop reporting for Financial Risk Management.
Support ERP initiatives as the primary Protein business contact for the Global Derivatives Project, Symphony SAP project and other ad hoc projects.
40% Optimize Processes and Champion Continuous Improvement
Identify and implement process simplification, standardization and automatization of position reporting and P&L processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
Work across the Protein FRM organization to align commodity position and trading P&L reporting processes.
Actively participate in new systems implementations or stabilizations as a trading subject matter expert.
Partner with the Process Improvement and Controls A&F domains to design and implement controlled FRM and business processes.
Partner with the Protein Risk Manager to drive accuracy in risk exposure reporting and bring new insights to traders.
Education, Experience, Skills
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Risk Management, Economics, or Mathematics
Minimum 5 years of accounting, finance and/or commodity risk management experience.
