Overview

Serves a vital role as the assistant gate keeper to the Land Acquisition Request ("LAR") Committee, with a focus on reviewing requests within the framework of corporate investment objectives, guidelines, and criteria. Included in day-to-day responsibilities are creating and managing LAR processes and conducting analysis around the potential LAR submission and lot pipelines, land forecasts, and other required regularly scheduled and ad hoc land analyses. Ultimately, this position will assist senior management with making land-related investment decisions through the application of financial modeling and rigorous analyses.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Creates and enforces LAR submission processes to verify that all required documentation has been submitted and collaborates with the Division to provide any additional or modified materials needed for a submission, as necessary. Assists in the LAR Committee review of submitted materials by assembling materials into a review book, composing the weekly meeting agenda, presenting deal synopses to the Committee, and recording notes and action items from the Committee's discussion.

  • Provides a first-level review of submissions, verifying all required documentation has been provided, validating assumptions through the review of supporting documents, and auditing proforma(s). Collaborates with Division professionals to conduct an introductory call for each deal and answer questions raised by the review of submission materials.

  • Compiles, tracks, maintains, and provides reports for all relevant information related to LAR approvals. Ensures that all approvals are in compliance with company policies.

  • Provides analysis and reporting for key land-related metrics both regularly scheduled and ad hoc such as the LAR scorecard, LAR submission pipeline, lot pipeline, the monthly LAR report, monthly land forecasts, etc.

  • Monitors business needs to ensure the proforma and other templates are effective tools for analyzing investment decisions. Acts as a liaison to field professionals regarding templates, providing guidance, answers to questions, and response to suggestions or concerns in a timely manner.

  • Maintains Land Department intranet site to ensure all relevant documents are included and current.

  • Continuously evaluates opportunities to enhance existing processes and performs ad hoc analyses as requested.

Education & Experience

  • BBA/BS in Business/Finance/Economics/Accounting preferred

  • 2-5 years of relevant prior experience

  • Strong modeling and analytical acumen, technical prowess, organization, and detail-orientation

  • Ability to multi-task, reprioritize on the fly, and learn a sufficient level of subject matter expertise across a broad spectrum of functional areas

What you'll do (Duties) * Develop clear, metric-based, financial plans/forecasts including monthly projections, annual budgets, long range plans, and related updates. * Analyze financial and operational results versus forecast and plan, investigate significant variances and communicate findings to management team. * Analyze business activities and present results and recommendations to enhance operational strategies both for awareness, effectiveness and overall financial benefit. * Interpret, evaluate and interrelate company and research data and develop integrated business analyses and projections for incorporation into strategic decision making * Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis and management reports on request. * Recognizes and communicates financial implications of business decisions and strategy. * Perform predictive and prescriptive analytics to support growth of revenue and profit * Develop and maintain models and analyses to aid in the validation of existing forecasts; support strategic initiatives and help review critical financial decisions * Maintaining and staying up to date on the latest analytical tools and trends. * Lead meetings and develop presentations to easily explain analysis and drive actionable results. * Prepare financial modeling for acquisition or merger opportunities, new business development, cost saving projects, capital expenditure evaluation, competitive analyses, and channel, broker, customer and product profitability. * Assist in the due diligence process for potential acquisitions and/or strategic partnership opportunities. * Manage internal and external financial and management reporting including investor and banking relations. * Manage the preparation of executive, board level, investor and research presentations * Creates process procedures, standards, and flows for current and future state initiatives/analysis. * Completes special projects as assigned. * Ensure all deliverables adhere to department quality and delivery standards. Requirements * Minimum of five years in relevant financial analysis and reporting role, preferably at least three years in a corporate FP&A role * Bachelor's in Finance or related field * Prefer previous management experience in a Finance environment * Extensive experience with Adaptive Financial Planning tool * Experience working with cross-functional teams to build consensus and project plans * Ability to work under tight deadlines * Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills * Natural curiosity and a lifelong learner * Proven problem-solving, conceptual thinking, and analytical abilities * Strong process and project management abilities * Understanding of business calculations to determine return on investment, cost per acquisition, profitability, high value segments, and market analysis * Be open to and accepting of a rapidly changing dynamic business environment. * Experience with Oracle Financials a plus * Cash Management and cash forecasting experience a plus * Consumer Ecommerce and/or Retail experience is a plus Why Purchasing Power?
