Position Information

Anticipated budgeted amount for this position is $145,000 - $160,000. The Sr.

Executive Director for Individual Giving reports directly to the Associate Vice Chancellor, Development, and serves on the senior development leadership team. The incumbent will oversee development officers within the Central Development Office whose focus will be on individual giving at the major gift level. The incumbent will be responsible for the management of the following areas within Central Development - Regional Development, Planned Giving, and Athletics.

In conjunction with the Associate Vice Chancellor, the Executive Director will help to create a holistic, strategic and thoughtful approach to the development operation. As a leader on the Development team, the Executive Director will play an essential role in helping UC Riverside complete a transformative and comprehensive fundraising campaign. Please note: this is a two-year, renewable contract position which includes the same employee benefits afforded career employees. Education

Education Requirements Degree Requirement Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required Advanced degree. Preferred

Experience

Experience Requirement 8 - 13 years of related experience. Required Previous supervisory/managerial experience. Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills, including excellent political acumen skills, to build and maintain effective working relationships within all organizational levels and with outside constituencies.

Excellent skills in meeting predetermined goals and objectives, including securing gifts and meeting fundraising goals.

Excellent knowledge of leadership/management concepts, procedures, techniques and best practices.

Excellent leadership/management skills to select, train, mentor, evaluate and motivate staff.

Excellent knowledge of the campus, its achievements, vision, mission, goals, objectives, applicable policies, infrastructure and current issues of concern and knowledge of issues of concern for higher education generally.

Excellent strategic planning, critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, persuasion/negotiation skills and marketing skills.

Excellent knowledge of all aspects of fundraising, donor and public relations including advanced knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.

Demonstrated leadership in working with key volunteer organizations, including advisory board members and/or major donors to the schools/colleges.

Minimum of five+ years demonstrated fundraising or similar leadership experience, preferably in a higher education institution.

Must be able to demonstrate independent decision-making ability and sound judgment in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Possess an intuitive sense of the large enterprise combined with a practical, project orientation.

The ability to inspire confidence as well as motivate others, and the ability to excel in the framework of a highly complex research institution with significant aspirations.

Demonstrated experience in developing and managing budgets, built on an institution's strategic mission, as well as programmatic planning.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in developing and/or advising fundraising strategy, working with an institution's advancement leadership.
