Sr. Enterprise Build Engineer / Architect

Work Permit: US Citizen / Permanent Resident (GC) only

Location: Richmond, VA

Rate: Open to discussion

Contract: W2 only

Length: 15 to 36 months

The candidate for this position is responsible for all aspects of an infrastructure build, so soft skills such as leadership, communication, planning, attention to detail, and drive are just as important as the technical knowledge in working with various subject matter experts. Projects will have an assigned PM, but this individual will lead /drive the effort.

Qualifications:

Expert knowledge of IT engineering design practices and industry-standard trends.

Advanced ability to work with others in order to achieve a common goal, resolve conflicts and manage cross-functional and external relationships; ability to negotiate and influence without direct authority.

Displayed advanced leadership skills as exemplified by contributing to a positive work environment, helping to instill a 'sense of urgency' and to motivate others.

Expert ability to solve problems by considering available information, prioritizing and making timely decisions; correlate data using standard business and technology tools and approaches, spot trends and apply sound security and risk management principles.

Advanced experience in generating and presenting written and oral communications with all levels of stakeholders from various cross-functional and support staff to senior level executives.

Advanced ability to effectively communicate technical concepts in lay or business terms.

Ability to assess necessary activities and prioritize for completion of assignments using excellent time management, prioritization skills and work ethic.

Education / Experience

Requires a Bachelor's Degree with:a major in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and job-related experience equal to 8 - 10 years.

Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field.

Preferred Experience:10+ years professional experience in the area of Information Systems,

5 - 8 years experience in at least 2 of the following IT areas: Networking, Systems Engineering, Applications, Engineering, Security, Computer Operations, Disaster Recovery, Database Design and Implementation,

3 - 5 years experience with:leading large complex IT projects; and/or installation of network or Systems installations,

3+ years experience:as team lead of technical subject matter experts.

Contractors should expect to work on-site 100% in Downtown Richmond, VA location.

This is not a software deployment/build role.

MNGR is looking for an individual with experience in a High Availability environment to support project initiatives for Services Delivery group.

Requires a wide breath of technical knowledge to communicate with SMEs, PMs, developers, etc.

You will be expected to take design/configuration documents and implement as needed and work in request process, responding to and tracking requests.

Required soft skills: Communication - verbal and written (required), attention to detail, and leadership.

Expect some possible weekend work for this role.

This will be accomplished in conjunction with Monitoring Architects, Tools Engineering, Automation Teams and Operations teams, to consider monitoring as a key early requirement, with a service health and quality based outcome, driving for and delivering on standardized and automated monitoring onboarding, and collaborating with process experts to be compliant with relevant standards. The goal of the Monitoring Transformation lead is to standardize and enable the ability to reliably and consistently deliver applications and infrastructure that are operationally ready, in order to minimize significant service disruptions, with a minimum bar of reducing mean-time-to-repair, but striving to deliver the capability to predict and prevent service impact to the customer. Developing and delivering a standardized automated workflow to self-serve the selection and instantiation of standard monitoring capabilities, through loosely coupled standard tools, will be a key deliverable. When business needs dictate custom solutions, a thoughtful process must be established to capture the risk vs. reward justifications, and ensure that due diligence is done to limit proliferation of similar custom solutions. A time-to-market driven custom solution must have a roadmap to comply with and deliver on one of the above approaches to control custom sprawl. In doing so, the individual in this role will implement the vision of a common/shared self-service and automated by default and custom by exception monitoring onboarding process for CTO Service Operations.
